This is a side story from "From the ashes"
Its the first December 24 of the war against Starlight Glimmer's army. The insanity of this war was starting to show. Many ponies now experience their first Hearth's Warming without their family. Thus, in the middle of an all out war, a miracle happened.

Snowfall makes the meadows white
Huddle close to keep family warm
Tomorrow's dawn will bring Hearth's Warming morn
Now the day is done

Happy Hearths Warming!
I'll don't usually write review-type comments, but I really liked this and I think it needs more views, likes, and feedback.
I'm a little torn about the author's notes on subsequent events. On one hand, I feel like the story could have ended at the first chapter, since we can infer from the history of the event this is based on what happens afterwards. On the other hand, I appreciate it being fleshed out, and the second-to-last paragraph of the author's notes especially.
Overall, while a little rough around the edges, this was well-written, conveying the emotion of the moment well, and I enjoyed the Equestrian take on a historical event.
