Everypony knows that a thousand years ago, Princess Luna was cursed into becoming Nightmare Moon. As a result, Princess Celestia reluctantly banished her younger sibling to the moon to safeguard Equestria. What no one knows, not even Celestia herself, is that Luna didn't get sent to the moon as intended. Instead she spent a thousand years on a far distant planet, unintentionally becoming an influence on that world's history. She yearns to return home but all she can do is wait. Wait, and the stars will set her free.

Halfway through: This is really good and I'm enjoying it.
Check out this blog post, as it adds some clarity to what this fiction is all about.
When Dream And Unite I: A Fortune In Lies - Dream Theater
I really hate to say this, but the grammatical and idiomatic errors are so frequent that I can't even begin to get into the story.
That's a shame then, it really is quite a good story so far.

"This isn't the moon."
Don't you mean... "That is no moon..."?
Anywho, this is a great start. Well done. Question of the day, though: Is Luna still an alicorn, or is she now a human?
Why hasn't it been updated for so long?

Moral of the story: Update, update, update.
So.... Any plans for ever updating again?

Hi, friend.
Don't mind me.
Just your friendly, neighborhood nag.
After two years on my Read Later list, I can say this is a fic worth reading! ...As soon as it's written.
Actually, it's still worth it as is just for the backstory explaining Nightmare Moon's origins. Quite the tale as is, and should you not write the originally intended Pony on Earth story, a little editing could turn this into a fine standalone origin of NMM story! (Written before Season 4's premiere, of course.)

Should be the Royal We, yes? Or was this also written before Season 2? (With her line about seeing Celestia getting her to pull extra duty as unlikely, I would think she is standing at her more equal Season 2 stature.) Speaking of which...
A most generous estimate.

Why leave this paused so long?
Well… thank you for leaving this chapter up at least. It's an excellent start left to readers to imagine the rest.
