Chapter 5

A few years later, Pinkie returns to Lily's grave once again. "It's been too long," she says as she kneels down in front of the grave. "Way too long. I brought you some red and pink lilies." She puts them in front of the grave then continues to talk to the stone. "I miss you, little friend. I miss you." A tear falls from Pinkie's eye followed by several more tears. The wind then blows through the cemetery and shakes the late cherry blossoms down onto Lily's grave. "You've missed so much, little friend. Cheese Sandwich asked me to marry him. Maud got her second rockterate. Man, you've missed so much." Pinkie then goes back to quiet and back to balling out liters upon liters of tears. She misses Lily so very much. She can't believe it's been three years since she passed away.

A few hours later, Pinkie leaves Lily's grave and goes off to meet up with Cheese Sandwich for the afternoon. "What's wrong, Pinkie?" he asks as she walks across the hill and towards him.

"Nothing," replies Pinkie, "I was just visiting Lily's grave again."

"That little filly that died three years ago," replies Cheese, "I get it. She was a really sweet girl. The world isn't as sunny without her in it."

"To that, I can agree," replies Pinkie as a single tear falls from her eye. Cheese comes over and sits beside her, embraces her, and begins to comfort her. Pinkie and Cheese sit together on the hill together for hours, him holding her and comforting her the entire time. Eventually, Cheese walks Pinkie home and they share a parting hug. "I'll see you soon," says Pinkie.

"I'll see you soon, too," replies Cheese as he kisses her on the cheek, "I promise." He then gives her one more kiss then leaves. Pinkie then goes up to her room, grabs a picture of Lily, holds it close to her chest, and continues to cry. Some grievances take a long time to heal. Pinkie is definitely learning that the hard way.

Why isn't there a tragedy tag?

Yeah, my most recent family was about half a year ago. My feelings for it are kinda bittersweet, seeing as I beleve in another world after we pass beyond this sphere. Heaven, hell, valhalla, equestrea. Be it as it may, I hope someday I see him again.

I believe in heaven too, so I know that's where they all are.

A difficult subject bravely handled.
This should help raise awareness and provide support to those going through difficult times.
Well done.

Thank you so much. Your approval means a lot to me since the other comments here have been so negative.

The loss of any child is a tragedy, and cancer is indiscriminate.  Lily was a beautiful and happy filly who was a joy to her parents and friends, and you have expressed their emotions with courage.
Loss and fear of loss can elicit a negative response as those involved struggle to come to terms with it.  Please don’t be disheartened because some readers aren’t ready to embrace this story; there may come a day when they need it more than ever.
We are all better for having Lily touch our lives.

Oh god..... ;-; poor little filly...
