A good premise and a simplistic plot that dosn't drag on too long.  Twilight seems a little more confident then her usual bookish self, but its nice to see someone trying to extender her depth beyond the folds of a reaserch journel.

You could do with changing the language in a fair few places, repetition and sentence flow seem to be an issue.  Try reading the story out loud to yourself and you’ll probably spot what I mean.  This should be quite easy to fix, sqeasing another star out of this short but sweet tail.  

Getting a pre-reader to go through it with you might be useful too; that way you have a second pair of eyes and another view point rolled into one ^^,

Other than that good effort :D

If you mean Octavia and Vinyl Scratch, you have a point. My opinion is that it's based around fanon portrayal of the two.

I think it's generally accepted that Vinyl is a bit more of a tomboy than Octavia, who's usually more of high socialite. That kind of combination seems to be a little limiting in terms of romance, but to be honest I find that kind of romance endearing. I'm sure there are other stories that do this differently, it just happens that three people got the same idea as to how these two work together.

Bubbledash fits better than pinkie blitz, seeing as I cant see rainbow blitz, as a guy, putting up with a girl like pinkie. Plus berry makes a nice stalking subplot if you wanted to include how they fall in love.

AppleBlitz seems better than Appledash (guy) Because if applejack was a dude, there wouldnt be much physical competition, seeing how buff he is, and with blitz, hes still on equal ground

Duskypie instead of sparkleberry, because twilight seems more like the guy in the usual portrayal of the ship, awkward and easily annoyed,

Applusive  works better than Rarijack,applejack falling for a guy prissier than she is works slighty better than (its still good the other way round) rarity in love with a big buff stallion

Harpsybon is better since lyra is already the man in the relationship, quirky, homer simpsonesque(except smarter) laidback, and bonbon is the housewife

Alright, my opinions are as follows

1. Interesting idea, but I don't really know how to work with Pinkie in anyway. I'll sit on it.

2.Sorry, but no. AppleDash is one of the few ships I don't particularly like. This is mostly because it seems way too confrontational to be stable, which is incredibly ironic considering what the next chapter will be about. If it's your deal, that's fine but I don't get it. Also, I'm fairly sure that Dash would find a way around Guy-Applejack's superior strength.

3.Same problem as 1. Pinkie is a nice character and I like her for that, but I can't just get myself into that sugar crazed mindset she exists in.

4 and 5. Wait on it. Also, can Tootsie Flute be a part of the later?

It's a good thing you decided to put it all in one universe. Makes the pacing much better and we get to see our favorite characters come back again.

Now, it seems Elusive wants some time with Applejack too. I hope it's just cause their friends, or else Trixter may have some competition. And that will obviously end well.

Lastly, I saw a Red GalaxCaramel shout out. Are you doing a chapter of them anytime soon? Not to seem pushy or anything, it's just nice to see Caramel straight in this.

I'm a little nervous that the observation stuff will turn out to be some sort of weird framing story that doesn't fit the rest of the story, but I do like how the actual story is going.  I'm looking forward to seeing applejack and elusive, it seems like a promising dynamic.

I love these stories, keep on making them.

The chapter length is really up to you. Personally, I like to see at least one conflict and resolution per chapter (or at least a good deal of character development).

Other than that, I would caution you against making chapters too long for a few reasons: 1) The longer a chapter is, the more time you need to proofread, and 2) In the amount of time it takes to draft, write, edit, and proofread a chapter, readers tend to forget what happened in prior chapters.

Ok, now for this chapter: Are you a musician, or did you get one to help you write the concert scene, or what? The two sections describing Octavia's thoughts during the concert are EXACTLY what I feel when I play a concert. I especially liked the bit when she feels the world fade away - too true! Bravo!
