That's what I want to know. I went into this expecting them to be getting it on clandestinely and anal, basically. Instead we got feels, and constantly wondering: "What the fuck ARE their children, anyways? Carnivorous Ponies, Satyrs, horse-headed midgets or what?"
Not that I'm complaining or anything.
Edit: While "Fate" is a easy way of explaining it, if one takes quantum physics and the fact that things can move through time in the MLP Universe it's probably more like a pony's own actions in attaining their cutie mark is what decides their name, in effect stamping their own identity into existance non-linearly. TL;DR Your actions ripple backwards in time to give your name.
Also, wouldn't Anon technically be royalty now? I think the appropriate title is "Prince Consort".
