Lounging in the lounge, Sunset smirked at the root of the word being quite so true, she was wondering exactly what to do. Her Mom was out on a not-a-date-at-all-honest with Discord. Her friends all had responsibilities today, so there was no time to hang out. Considering the shelf of DVDs in the room, or the vast number of books in the house as a pass-time, Sunset was surprised to hear the basement door opening up.
“Hey kid, bored?” Luna strode over and dropped something into Sunset's lap. She had come back into the house about half an hour ago and gone to her Luna-Cave. The teen hadn't been expecting such a swift return to the family space.
“Uh? Thanks?” Sunset picked up the device that had landed in her lap. It was a 2DS, she knew that much. There was a game in the slot and looking at the console, Sunset found the power button.
“I set it up for you, so it knows everything it needs for start-up.” Luna dropped onto the sofa too, she had a way of dropping that really was just that; a movement that sent her sitting in a lazy sprawl from standing by the seat in one action. She had a DS too, her 3DS that she liked best. (Sunset had seen her collection of Limited Edition consoles ranging right back to the first available). The design was Legend of Zelda, she'd been informed once when asking about the pattern on the case.
“Okay.” Sunset watched the screen and the little icons loaded up. The game icon was recognisable to her also. “Pokemon Sun?”
“I have Moon, of course.” Luna said, she was already playing it seemed. “You get exclusive Pokemon on each version and it is easier to trade with someone you know. It is faster to give you a copy than play through two games.” Luna looked up and smiled. “And it will be fun seeing my niece play a game I love, I hope you'll enjoy it.”
It was a really fond smile and Sunset could only smile back. She'd once worried about how the seemingly more severe of the sisters would react to her moving in, how wrong she had been. “Okay, but I might need loads of help. Unless any of the girls find out about this.”
“Sure. It isn't a hard game to get the hang of. Honestly, this one has changed a lot of features so some parts will be just as new to me as you.” Luna was focused on her game but still happy to chat.
-*-
After a while, they both decided it would be a good idea to stop playing. They had chosen their character's looks and name and got as far as choosing starters. Sunset had selected her favourite element; Fire. Luna had ended up with a grass starter, mumbling something like “Owls are the best.”
Having gotten to the point where Sunset was exploring and learning the game and Luna was starting her usual plays, she called a halt. “Come on, gaming all day is great fun, but it is probably time for dinner soon.” She saved the game and closed her console, “We can't have 'Tia accusing me of being a bad influence.”
“Hah, I'm enough of a bad influence on myself.” Sunset laughed but she saved and switched off too. “It was fun, thanks. For the game and the console and the company.” Sunset bumped her shoulder with her aunt's.
“No problem. I'll get another gamer in this family yet.” Luna tousled Sunset's hair after she stood. Glad she'd taken a chance on giving Sunset the game.
In an annoying overly-correct fanboy nerd tone
Pokémon sun/gen seven is trash. All the new pokémon are ether trash or inanimate object pokémon.
Somthing like, say platinum would be better, due to the (near) absence of inanimate object pokémon. (Wow, that lines up perfectly.)
Furthurmore, the "Z-crystals" are gimmicky, overpowered, and a crutch, leading players to rely on them for the entire game.
And WAY more content is locked behind the elete four, compared to earlier games! The ultra beasts should be avalible much earlier, when you can litraly get every pokémon from the "wonder trade" making locking pokémon behind progression walls useless!
(I'm gonna stop myself there.)
Eh, in my opinion the New 3DS XL beats any other portable console available right now - the stereoscopic 3D (which I love and always have at max, because games just look oddly flat and lifeless without it) makes it better than the New 2DS XL, and the superior battery life (7 hours vs 3-6 hours) and backwards-compatibility plus its long lifespan makes it better than the Switch.
I am with Luna on this one. I also got Moon and went with the owl starter. I chose that version because of Salior Moon.
No trading and restarting to get all three starters each?
Guess they don't like gamer logic loop-holes. Or they lack the patience necessary for such tactics.
Seriously though fun story and decent chapter.
A bit too Short and simple but nice none the less. Love seeing Luna's cool geeky aunt mode plus being a life long Pokemon I can't help but like this chapter

Personally, I believe the low point was Gen VI, in particular XY - the characters and region were unenjoyable, there was literally ONE thing to do after beating the champion (helping Looker), and the Friend Safari was good on paper but crap in practice (too reliant on the Friend List). Plus Battle Maison was stupid, and so was locking a majority of the good TMs either in it, or in Kiloude City. Lastly, the start-credits battle was literally pointless (no EXP or cash awarded, and you couldn't skip the credits because of this).
Sun and Moon were better - I actually liked the characters, Z-moves aren't that important, the region was fun to go through, there was more aftergame than XY, the Pokémon introduced are decent (though a bit too slow for my tastes) and the Battle Tree was fun.
Though, like I said, a lot of the new Pokémon have low Base Speed, which hampers my enjoyment (I wish Vikavolt were faster, for one), there's no Mega Ring until the postgame and I do prefer Gyms over Trials.
Oh well - the positives outweigh the negatives here, for me - the only three things I'm not looking forward to in Ultra Sun/Moon are the Mantine surfing (I'm not a surfer in real life, Super Mario Sunshine/Galaxy have already ruined videogame surfing, and I'd rather go through the Battle Tree to get BP for Move Tutors), the dress-up thing (what's the point?), and the Battle Factory-esque thing (I'm not a fan of having to use random Pokémon - their moves, Abilities, stats and items often tend to suck).
Everything else looks really neat, though.
Does human Sunset appear in this or the previous story?
I chose PKMN Sun because of Jojo. Characters were fun and are self-aware, Pokemon are much better than those in Gen 6 and Mimikyu's my favorite.

i shall see both of your comments and mine own.
All the pokemon games suck...also spell check seems to know how you spell pokemon ...this frightens me
8534796
?
8534799
i dont know
also that was fast
8534539
My rant is mostly fueled by the disappointment it was (comapared to earlier generations) and how it left a sour taste in my mouth, with the enraging (to me) elite four, where even Cynthia was more fun.
8534917
I can accept that - people have differing opinions, after all; it's just that what you described is how I felt about XY (disappointing Champion, not too happy about the new Pokémon added [most of them suck without their Hidden Abilities, and there's only 72 instead of the previous standard of 100+], disappointing characters, I talked about this before).
I just wish Game Freak brought back Black/White 2's Challenge Mode, y'know? That made the games a whole lot more fun. Sure, scrap Easy Mode - who needs that? - but bring back Challenge Mode.
8534943
I just want a version with zero new inanimate object pokémon.
8534950
"inanimate object Pokémon"
So things like Charjabug? Comfey? Palossand? Minior? Mimikyu?
Are those examples of Pokémon designs that bother you?
8534964
One word: Vanilluxe.
Truly the most evil pokémon. Counting Giratina.
But i don't like Comfey, Palossand and Minor either.
8534981
Vanilluxe? Black and White came out six years ago, and Vanilluxe is still a problem? I personally never had any issues with Vanilluxe, Garbodor, Klink, etc., because some previous designs have been rather silly too (Grimer = pile of sludge; Muk = bigger pile of sludge; Voltorb and Electrode = Poké Ball and upside-down Poké Ball; Magneton and Dugtrio = three of their pre-evolutions conjoined; Noctowl = an owl; Ursaring = bear; Clamperl = oyster; etc.) - basically, while I do admit some designs are...uncreative, I've never really let it sully my enjoyment of the games themselves, because only a small number of in-game Trainers actually use them and I don't have to use them either.
I'm personally more irritated at XY's weakening of special moves (95 Base Power -> 90; 120 BP -> 110; 140 -> 130; Hidden Power is limited to 60 BP) and Steel's nerf (no longer resists Ghost and Dark), since they have a fundamental impact, unlike the designs of certain Pokémon.
cute little story when i saw the name this is actualy what i pictured then i said no it wont be pokemon but i twas and im happy
oh and we now know sunset is canonically a gamer so this works even better
8534747
uh depends on your point of view read the chapter roots and it explains things
8534964
Okay, I know I'm tired when I think for a moment you'd typed intimate object Pokemon.
Which brings me around to Pokemon Girls. Gotta catch 'em all!
8534917
I don't think you get random pokemon in Battle Factory, if I'm right then it's mostly to battle the past villains
This was a cute chapter, I too am looking forward Ultra Sun and Moon (I actually have Ultra Moon pre-ordered)
8535030
While i don't follow the competive sciene, nor do i keep up to date with the games themself, i still dabble with the few really good ones. Namley platinum.
8534539
T R I G G E R E D
Oh, and han's actor resigned.
8534943
And I want a Pokemon game with a difficulty setting I just find them way to easy now
Rowlet gets my vote for best starter based on the plushy alone.
Naturally, Luna would insist on playing 'Moon'.
Glad this was short, the "Sunset interacts with popular culture" chapters are my least favorite. There's comedic and dramatic potential for fanfiction when characters react to movies or video games or what have you, but here it ends up more like "So here's this thing that I like." "Oh, that's cool! I like it too... bye!" It's not that interesting.
8535513
Could you imagine Luna getting Celestia to play Sun?
(I know this is Trixie, but they don't have a Luna icon YET): Look, Tia, it's Sun and Moon just like us. You HAVE to play it with me.
: Luna....
Is it the gold 3DS with the Triforce on it? Cause that's the one I've got. Luna has very good taste. And I had to go with Incineroar because he looks like T-Bone from Swat Kats.
8537003
Yes, it is that one. I rather liked it but didn't have the cash at the time. Currently I am using the Pokemon version 2DS, having upgraded from the Pokemon White DSi.
I like the slow burn for Sunset and Twilight's relationship
8535374
and your comment gets a thumbs-up just for your profile picture
Ouch, Luna's in for a rough time with Rowlette.
Oh, sure, get Sunset a game that beyond the nice colors and cute creatures uses a lot of intricate and precise math to take the most effective and powerful mechanics to the max to a woman that is one of the smartest women on the school, why not?
I loved black and white myself (white was my first game) along with platinum (giritina has best entrance) and conquest (awesome strategy game)
Oh that game sure brings back memories to when I got mine since I am a huge Pokémon fan myself.
It was hard for me when I played it, I even reset the game over the part I wasn't able to get pass which I was able to after the reset.
I'm with Luna, I choose rowlet myself when I played sun. Ah good memories.
