Eh, a bunch of small things that, honestly, plague a lot of writing, not just the clop community. Quality lagging, rehashing old ideas, the overuse of tropes in lazy ways(all of which I'm am/was guilty of myself). It just pushed me to try and write some quality, happy, non-fetish sex.

I came here for the cover art, and I find this. I can't agree more, I'm starting to lose my patience with how many summaries are the subject of horrible grammar, looking like the author is running their stuff through a poor quality online translator. And that's to say nothing of the stories themselves. The overall lack of quality is so bad, when I find a story with a premise I like, I'm half tempted to submit a corrected rewrite to the author.

We get a couple of quality mature rated stories that hit the site, then nothing but schlock for months, then a couple more good ones, then more schlock. But the good ones are so out numbered by the bad if you blink, you'll miss them.

I can agree with that. I hold roleplaying up as one of the frequently good examples of mature writing, because it has to be more than just the smut and the smut can be actually interesting.
But we don't see those sorts of fics very often and I can only assume that's because too many authors find them to be too hard to do, or so many authors have accepted the shit quality of clop as normal.

It isn't just clop that's having a lack of quality put into it. Rather it's a great many stories across a great many categories, which makes the problem even worse since you can't blame it on the authors being too horny to think.

In part, I think it's a bunch of authors that care more about views than effort or skill. Which we've always had an overabundance of spanning every category we could name. The thing that gets me is there is no growth from this crowd. They don't get better. They don't take a look at their work and think, 'Hey, I can do better next time. I'll try to fix up mistakes and improve.' They get views and mindless comments that feed the idea that they don't need to grow, they don't need to improve, and that angers me just a little bit.
