An accident causes Celestia to end up in a frontier town amid the wilderness without her memories, leaving Twilight Sparkle feeling devastated as Luna tries to help her—plus, there's a little mystery to solve.

Certain TAGS that apply to this story are spoilers and will be added only when the relevant chapters make them unavoidable—there IS a mystery to reveal in due time, after all. Have fun figuring it out :trollestia:

My other two stories are pretty good sized and I've been bouncing between them on posting chapters. But since those chapters are rather large and highly detailed, I thought to post this in increments to pass the time. This is story is completely unrelated to my others and it has considerably few chapters, with a new chapter to be posted about 1/wk.

Okay, a few words about the points to award:
1 point for the first one to guess the origin of the "crossover" in this story -- that's way too easy.
5 points for the first one guessing who Tumbleweed is from that "crossover" series -- not so easy
10 points for first one who guesses Filly's partner prior to Ch 6;
5 points for first one to guess who she is if no one has by Ch 6 but before Ch 7;
0 points if after, because the answer will have been given.
25 points for first one who guesses the overall mystery of the story prior to Ch 10;
15 points for first one to guess what's going on if no one has by Ch 10 but before Ch 11;
0 points if after, because the answer will have been given.
Again, just have fun:pinkiehappy:

oh, and a bonus of 20 points to whoever can guess the "crossover" that's referenced in "Night the Lights Went Out in Canterlot":rainbowdetermined2:

Shit...this sounds rather grim, don't it?

Trust me, it's a comedy. Would this face lie?-->♫♪:rainbowkiss:

(yes. yes she would. Rainbow Dash might be the Element of Loyalty, but she would lie her rainbow colored plot off. she AIN'T Applejack, you know!)

Una

Kind of sounds like Clint Eastwood is at it again. Good chapter.

7077311 Thanks!

BTW, a slight amendment to the scoring: 2 points for spotting various western themed references that show up in the story (aside from the town this will be taking place in--because that one's still too easy. sorry)

So, 2pts for Renamon :pinkiehappy:

Well the genre for the crossover is either western or Sci-fi and I can't tell which.

7115780 Sorry. No points for you, yet. As I said, the actual show related to the crossover is only 1 point because it's too easy, as are most of the so-far named characters. But guessing who Tumbleweed's character is based on from that show is worth 5. :pinkiehappy:

Hey folks! Opportunities to score are starting to dry up.:flutterrage:

Someone could've had a good amount of points by now had they took a shot at guessing Filly Rustler's partner.:pinkiesad2:
You've got about another week before that one's all gone....

Well, with "Yin Meets Yang", Filly's partner is fully revealed. so those points are gone. Sorry.

But there's still points available for other guesses, especially the mystery that Twilight's still trying to solve :pinkiehappy:

It covered everything. The ground. The air.

The sky is dirty! Who cleans the sky in Equestria?

7220139 In most of the inhabited places, the pegasi.

Where she was walking...and where she's going...not so much :trollestia:

What no one thought to use a candygram on Mongo.

7262723 It was more for the pony punching him back

5 points for you, btw :pinkiehappy:

Sorry for not having a chapter this week, as some RL issues had popped up before I completed it. I'll get it posted as soon as I can.

7280102 hi this is Shepard this is my favorite story on the Citadel internet no but seriously you gotta finish the story

7220139 when it said the sky was dirty I was thinking pollution

7077439 this opening was so good I thought Clint Eastwood was going to pop out as a pony to greet celestrial

She didn't just forget her memory she forgot how to use her body oh by the way good story you need more you need to do more

This is really good, what a creative idea, poor Clestia

Ok so like this but the time frame is throwing me, If I read that correctly the changelings were defeated 20 years ago?

Okay, the entire desert sequence was somehow both grim and hilarious.

Great start.

Snrk. Okay, a dazed and so out of it Celestia is just hilarious.

Classy, Sunbutt.

Wow, that place seems more isolated than the moon.

I love the setting, the descriptions really paint a great picture of a completely isolated town in the middle of nowhere.

Hello Chryssie!

Changeling interior renovation special ops team!

Ouch... Well, Chryssie's preparations worked against her.

Though, that model of gaining sustenance is perfect for expansion, her children could still be numerous one day.

... :rainbowlaugh:

Chryssie: 'I turned a new leaf, I should not be enjoying thi-bwahahahahaha!'

Nice!

Don't worry, Chryssie, you may yet have more power again, but used for good.

I hope this updates again, I really enjoyed it so far.

It's alive!

Nice chapter, looks like they're getting somewhere with their plans to rebuild the railway.

I hope that the couriers get there safely. And that Chryssie gets to establish friendly relations with the rest of Equestria and rebuild her hive's numbers.

...changelings can fly, right? If nothing else, they can take pegasus shape and go from there... they should have a better chance of reaching civilisation than earth ponies.

This was a good chapter, Celestia is so cute, and I love the bit about the brotharls so much.

I like this my dear sir, have a fav, like and mustasch. :moustache:

I find an interesting story with an intriguing and funny plot :D
I noticed that the story is not complete and has not been updated for more than 3 years :(

wow, did the cheyjlings find a place where they were accepted the way they are? without disguise?

Haven't read the other chapters after this one, but I'm gonna guess it involves the magic of second chances that Filly talked about. Although if Celestia got a second chance, maybe the other ponies who went with her got it as well. But as to their whereabouts, I have no idea.

My deepest apologies for taking so long to get back on this story. RL has a bad habit of getting in the way, but that's not the only thing that held this up. It wasn't real writer's block, so much as it was trying to figure out the best way to blend all those old shows and tropes that I was aiming to give homage to, and do so in a way that feels natural.
Moreover, when I was working on this chapter the last few days, it suddenly occurred to me that the character played by the late A. G. Karras had a hell of a lot in common with another supporting role, played by the late Richard Kiel--and so, we now have the scene at the train.
Sorry that I can't promise regular updates to this or my other stories, but I will try to do better. That, I do promise. :pinkiehappy:

Also, I went through and edited all the previous chapters to eliminate many typos/spelling/grammar issues that MSWord has been bitching at me for years.... :ajsleepy:
