Basically, I was told that I should write something "serious." I felt, at first, that this person was both largely hypocritical and made no logical points; however, now, I have to prove myself here. It's all serious.

Indeed. I concur that the serious pointlessness of this literary piece makes it to bland, due to it seriousness. I would insert a Joker reference, but that would remove the serious atmosphere that makes this literary piece serious. Therefore, I will only seriously leave this comment expressing the blandness of this literary piece that its seriousness caused.
