Octavia is a high-class pony. Fine alcohol is her wont, and uncouthness her intense chagrin. Such is her surprise to find herself lumbered with an insufferable oaf of a DJ pony. However, sometimes these situations work themselves into a satisfactory ultimatum all the same.
YES, my exact same thought. I love this fic and it's spinoff in spirit "Two's company, three's a crowd".
The Octy-Vinyl-pairing is just too awesome to be anything less than epic.

If Rainbow Dash was the only one of the mane six being shipped with other girls... she would be the only one being shipped period. There aren't a whole lot of colts to choose from (and I think Big Mac gets shipped with Caramel as often as Fluttershy). Really, people ship pretty much anyone, as long as it's right for the mood/plot of the story, even Rarity gets her turn.
...though can you really not see Pinkie Pie going with anything as long as it's fun? I think she makes a better pansexual 
than Dash makes a lesbian
Octavia sputtered, coughing out dust she imagined had lain on the uncleaned carpet for weeks. In doing so, she rapidly eradicated a large colony of almost sentient dust mites, that were in the process of penning up their request to join the United Equestrian Nations. Sadly, Ponykind lost this chance for a new ally to inevitably fights wars with and exploit for labour, so perhaps it was for the better that this fledgling civilisation met its end in Octavia’s trachea, rather than having to endure that whole fiasco.
for this... take my internets, all of them.
It's funny. I was brought to this site by stories like "Traveler", "Pony Psychology Series", and "The Empty Room", all tales of adventure and darkness. Sure, they were about pastel ponies, living in a fairy tale land where nothing seems to go wrong, but they all possessed that dark air that I loved to read, had an atmosphere that would send chills down my spine.
But, after hanging around here for close on three months, I've come to realize something: There are few experiences better than reading a masterfully written romance. And this story is truly a masterpiece. Eight chapters of slowly developing two characters, of building their relationship up from dust, all leading up to a single moment of tender intimacy. If this was the final chapter, I think that the ending would be perfect. However, since the incomplete tag is still hanging around, I shall be eagerly awaiting the next installment.

First, no, I didn't write those. I agree with you, advertising your own story in someone else's comment section is a horrible practice, one which I have not, nor will ever participate in. No, the stories I mentioned, like I said, were the stories that brought me to this site, the ones that convinced me that MLP fanfiction could be something worthwhile after all. They are exemplary examples of writing, ones that I am sadly not capable of matching with my own limited skills and work ethic.
Second, it's unbecoming to accuse someone without first checking your facts. If you would have taken the time to examine my profile, you might have noticed that NONE of those stories are mine. Now, I'm feeling rather pissed off, people who read your comment will likely think less of me for it, and, again, I'm rather pissed off.
However, I do suppose I could have further specified that I did not write those stories. It's possible that my earlier comment could have been misinterpreted so that I was trying to garner more page views, and I'd like to apologize for giving you that impression. I assure you, that was not my intent. I was only trying to compare CoffeeGrunt's writing to that of some of my other favorite authors, ones that should be particularly well known on this site (I'm fairly certain that they've all been denizens of the featured menu in the past). I did not think I needed to specify that I did not own those stories, and apparently misled you. Again, I apologize.
About Lyra and Bonbon. First of all, thank you for spelling the latter correctly, a feat which not even the wiki was able to achieve.
Secondly, the personalities are a bit skewed. Lyra seems pretty nice in the series, and even starts crying when a parasprite eats her pie. If anything, Bonbon is the catty one, blowing off Rarity at one point, and complaining with an irritatingly shrill voice about something as trivial as being accused of stealing apples. I think it would've been more accurate, and possibly more interesting, if done correctly, to have them switch places, with Bonbon being arrogant for Lyra, talking down Octavia while the artist herself sits back and timidly protests to the fighting.
That would cheapen Lyra's role, making her seem as inadequate as Octavia makes her out to be.
We can't really cultivate an entire character from a few scenes and a sprinkling of dialogue, each from separate voice actors. They're open to interpretation, Lyra is essentially Neo-Octavia. Bonbon has her taunting side, as is revealed in future chapters on EDaily/DeviantArt.
