There are a lot of things wrong with this ms b one you could go with out adding the gun sound effect just say what going on also that whole playing cards was not needed.
5331340 Thanks for the advice, but I think I'd like to keep the onomatopoeias for now. Different weapons make different sounds when they're fired. Joe and Pizza can both use this acoustic difference to determine whether or not if they're being engaged by rifles, pistols, or even a shotgun. Out of all of this, though, sometimes a gun may sound similar to another, so they will use similar onomatopoeias.
When something is heard, it would take a brief period for a Spartan to recognize what made that sound. I find that the onomatopoeias allow for the sound to be heard, then recognized rather than just stated. Though, for the card games I think I'll cut them down later.

6235957 My intent is to base the Spartans more after what is seen in the games and described in the books. I haven't actually read any of the Halo comics, so I figured this would be the best course of action. In the games, roughly eighteen 7.62x51mm NATO rounds will drop a Spartan when fired through an Assault Rifle. I considered the gel layer to be an improved version of what the Master Chief used early on in the Fall of Reach, with the main armor plates being the primary means of defense in Mjolnir powered assault armor.
