It's Nightmare Night, and Rainbow Dash is anticipating a fun night of - officially sanctioned by an absent Princess Luna - frightening little foals. But when she and Twilight go to pick up Applejack for the annual candy offering, the night takes a dark turn, and Equestria may never be the same again.
This is the prequel story to a longer one that I'm currently writing. This is a rather short, grimdark story that sets the stage for the events of Sunset Shimmer's return to Equestria.

7278691 The sequel changed dramatically, and followed on from another story of mine. It's nothing like this story anymore, I'm afraid, and is entirely separate.
Really liked this. Thought you managed to capture both sides of the argument well. Rainbow was a different choice of lead character for it, and you didn't shy away from the nasty bits while also not exploiting them.
From reading the other comments, it looks like the follow up work turned out differently to how you expected and thus this story isn't really a prequel to it anymore. Haven't read Rise Of Roam yet, but can only imagine how a direct sequel to this would have played out.
Did Fluttershy turn her animals as well, or just kill them all in her bloodlust?
