You are aware that you can kill a changling. A Changling is a dark fairy that is usually sent to replace an unbaptised baby or in the case of the show, a love eating parasite. There are several methods one can use to permanently kill one.
1. Salt ( Any type of fairy cannot cross a line or circle of salt as it will burn them. It also dubbles as a force field keeping them from passing through. )
2. Holy water ( Nuff said )
3. Pure silver ( This stuff if inserted into the body weather it be from consumption or penetration from a weapon such as a silver bullet or a silver dagger will kill them. )
4. Exerts from the Bible ( It scared them off )
With the methods above it is clearly possible to kill a changling. Anyway good story and I hope to see more in the future.
Man, you clop artists are so fast. You and OneTerribleWriter write with speed that would shame even Rainbow Dash.
481592 You are aware, good sir, that it's Equestria where the story takes place and not our world. Thus: 1. Salt is used to intoxicate ponies (like alcohol). So nopony would ever waste it on some changeling queen. 2. Yea, I don't think there's something like that in Equestria. But there's plenty of other magic. 3. I thought it was meant to kill werewolves. It shouldn't be some kind of almighty panacea for every other monster. 4. Yeah, same as 2. "Elements of Harmony: A Reference Guide" is maybe a viable replacement?
Sorry dude, silver is a kill-all for the unnatural. It's a "pure" metal. Representing the sanctity of form and material that the abominations of the metaphysical world oppose like matter and anti-matter. Typically why you see holy icons and basins of holy water made of silver.
481808 481592 Cold Iron for the Fey, silver for werewolves, salt for zombies, running water for vampires, and blessed silver for the undead and otherwise unholy though it is is a comparitively more recent one for the list. Forgetting a few others this was just off the top of my head. The application of silver as a means to stop anything else was most likely the result of the traditional retconning that the Church liked to do to local fokelore back during it's more active early recruitment efforts.
Depends who you're talking to. Some say pure silver's already sanctified, making the distinction between silver and blessed silver entirely pointless. If we're discussing the church, then considering it might be a retcon of theirs, a motion of retroactive continuity replaces what was there before as if it hadn't existed at all. Still leaving silver as the anti-supernatural material of choice.
Pure fantasy, well it depends on the realm you're talking about. Hell, who knows, might not even have silver in the form we're thinking of in Equestria. So far we've seen iron, chrome, and what might be either quicksilver of the lunar approximation of it (Luna's royal... hoofguards, boots... horseshoes... those things).
Either way, Equestria has its share of abominations, and even though the land's at relative peace now, we know full well the history was rife with carnage. Demons, beasts, demigod-like entities feeding on hate, race wars and oppression. Somewhere in there the demons and magical beasts were beaten back, the demons locked up with Cerebrus set to guard the gate to Tartarus. Most of the beasts into the Everfree. Unless we consider Celestia and Luna did it alone, I'm sure the ponies had specialized tools for the job.
To be honest I kind of want some sort of like, more mature-rated book detailing the darker days of Equestrian history, so we can figure out how they made it through those times and what they had to do to survive. Did they require special materials? Did they just throw large amounts of magic at all their problems? Or just overwhelming numbers?
482156 Considering at the time it was more alchemy then chemistry, there is probably some arcane explanation for the difference between Blessed and natural silver as there is the distinction between cold iron and iron. As for the retcon of the church, I wouldn't so much consider it a replacement for the older methods so much as someone new showing up with their interpretation of a classic belief running quite contrary to established ideals. Loath as I am to mention it, a modern example would be a certain book about vampires and how much of a bad taste it left behind for fans of the more classic depictions. As to how it all could apply to Equestria...I'm not even going to attempt to speculate. As enjoyable as this two part episode has been, and even with the amusing nods to the fan community, it really ran roughshod over some of the fannon beliefs. Perfectly acceptable seeing as it is an ongoing series, it is to be expected even, but after this I think I will wait till either the series finishes or such aspects are mentioned explicitly in an episode before I make any further assumptions. And I fully agree that a darker Equestria orgins story would be very appreciated. If you haven't come across it, Stories in Stone is an enjoyable story here covering the time period that Luna became Nightmaremoon and the "real" reason it happened.
Would like to point out that Alucard's a bad example for that, as they actually use silver to kill most vampires and freaks in Hellsing. Alucard is the Progenitor Nosferatu, Dracula, known to antiquity as Vlad Tepes the Impaler. What kills his race tends to just kind of make him wiggle and smile in anticipation.
Nosferatu in general seem to be fine with silver, as Incognito survived it just fine, even though it managed to hurt him until right there at the end where it finished him off.
I flipped out when I found out TAW wrote another story, this one with the beautiful Queen Chrysalis no less. Keep up the fantastic work! I also have one question: Will you ever write a romantic Shining Armor X Cadence story?
482156 Though I am working on a triligy that takes place in modern equestria, it involves the mane 6 finding a baby Arch-Angel named Hope, It follows her adventure in equestria and her quest to find out more about her past. I throw in a cuple Deamons ( The more evil conterpart of demons ), and fallen angels, and a celestial knight ( Somewhat like the knights of the church ). It is based heavily on Fay lore, and christian belief. Book one is done and Book two is almost done. Why not cheak them out in your spare time, if you want to that is.
Apparently it actually is Cadance, and not Cadence. Cadence is a musical thing, and I can't remember the reason for the actual spelling... If you care enough then reply to this and I'll find it. If not... Well, I'm going to bed either way.
Brainstorm!!! While reading The end of this story (before the good end part) I brainstormed about created a fic about this fic of how my character comes in and saves the day at a great cost... I would write this fic fic but first I'd need permission, then I'd need to write it and so far all of the stories I've written I've never finished.
damn that was good.
Hmmm she forgot that all this happened or she was destroyed or what? "good ending" so i guess just forgot
other then that great.
479840
Yeah, just forgot. Maybe I should be more explicit.
okay, it was awesome... and FREAKING FAST
you're awesome. thanks!
TAW, wtf was this?
I was expecting something better from you, TAW.
It felt weak compared to your other stories.
you know there's a Chrysalis tag now right?
481305
TAW isn't online right now. She'll fix it in the morning.
FUCK YOU TAW I PICKED THE TITLE FIRST
GET A BETTER ONE FAGHOMO-ASS
MoarĀ”!! !!!
481378 A CHICK WRITES THESE? I did not expect that.

Hawt dam, how many hours since the episode aired?
Anyway, I liked it. The end got a little weird, but I assume you were just tired or drained from writing the chapter.

Ah, someone who knows his exorcisms quite well.
Well done, sir. You get a Twilight for your knowledge on banishing unnatural creatures.
481808
Yeah right, try killing a vampire with a silver bullet. He will chomp your head off as soon as he stops laughing.
Alucard: "Here's what I think of your pure silver and your holy symbols."

in my defence, this took slightly under 2 hours to write from inception to completion., entirely to be the first.

Corruption the perfect to face your fears...*Insert scary laugh here*
This I like.
I knew you had it in you.
I do have to say, I'm a little sad there wasn't a bad end to go with the optional good end.
I was a little excited for that.
