No matter how strong the bonds of friendship are, the events of life and the call of dreams can still pull friends apart.  Only Twilight remains in Ponyville, and she wonders if she'll ever be able to be happy without her friends living in the same city.

This is pretty good. Although I felt something was missing near the end there. Not to sure what, just a little more I felt was needed. Otherwise, fantastic job. Keep up the good work. :pinkiehappy:

I can understand that.  I'll probably try to flesh it out soon when I get a chance.

Yes, I know :P When I get around to it, I'll try to keep going into her bitter state.  I will be honest, I kinda rushed a bit at the end.  It was late when I was typing, and I really wanted to finish before bed.  I'll make sure to flesh it out a bit more.

Holy sh*t... I've never cried over a fanfic before, but you absolutely blew my tearducts. I don't care what the others say, this is brilliant :fluttercry: The stories of how they left were very effective, and I love how angry Twilight gets when she redirects her letter towards her friends. It's believable and relatable, and certainly something to think about for the future. Who knows where my friends will end up, or how much I'll miss them? This really moved me :fluttershysad:

God that story brings back all the memories I've had with my friends over the past 10 years and how in the past year I've hardly seen or been able to talk to any of them. I know exactly how Twilight Feels. Brought tears to my eyes. :fluttercry:

You know, I had this exact moment at one point as a kid. All my friends were moving on, up, and out, and I couldn't keep up. I didn't know how to keep up. So I just insulated myself. :fluttercry: Thank you for this.

I don't think anyone on this site has written Twilight as good as you.

The title reminds me of the movie with the same title that I know... Is it based on that movie?

Well, I finally got around to reading this!

...Manly tears were shed. Manly tears were shed indeed.

The moments with Twilight's breakdown and each of the friends' departures—especially Pinkie's—had me bawling. And the ending brought it all full circle. This was really quite beautiful.

    Simply put, such is life.

You know, it made me think. Truly, the show depicts our beloved main 6 as young adults (though in some cases they act like kids in the fog *cough* Bird in the Hoof *cough*). And sooner or later their joy will come to pass, just as you described it. They will have to let their childish dreams and move on, beginning a new part of their lives. The canon show doesn't force it - let's face it, if they wanted to they could well stay in Ponyville and continue with their half-assed so-called jobs - but to me it seems only natural that the current phase of their lives is only temporary. Which would make your beautiful story a fitting ending for the show we all don't want to end. :pinkiesad2:

Let me repeat: such is life.

I graduated from high school a little more than a year ago, and have watched from afar as my closest friends have moved on with their lives and have gone onto bigger and better things. This piece made me reflect on that, and in the process of doing so, made me shed more than a fair share of tears, to be honest. I must thank you for writing such a moving piece, and must say that it is one of the -if not the- best works I've read on this site.
