No relationship building. The protagonist's relationship with the ponies are shallow, there's no depth to it. It's like the fantasies of a hormone driven adolescent on sexing up any sexy babe he sees. Again, relationships have conflict and misunderstandings, no matter who you are. The initial chapter of Xenophilia explores to a degree, relationship conflict in cultural differences and courtship signals which often went perhaps not unnoticed, but was assumed to be normal pony social behaviorism. Basically, he's not having to invest in any of these relationships, or risk anything in them. Adding such elements can only improve your story.
