This definitely could use another chapter or two. Either some past context or a short epilogue would be the bee's knee's. As it stands its a neat little one short though. Interesting, and gets the essential info to the reader, still I can't help but pine for a little more. In any case, nice job.

This is a really good story, even though you said it was random. Regardless, I would love to find out who or what exactly this human character is seeing how he's able to extract magic at least I think that's what he's doing. But if there is going to be a prolouge then most of this would be explained. Keep it up.
