What I wonder is, why does the stories image show a pony with instrument bows coming out of its sleeves? I know they are supposed to be blades, but they look EXACTLY like the bow I use for playing the cello...

It's that stray [i/] near the end of the chapter. That's a typo for the end-italics tag (with i and / switched), so the browser doesn't recognize it as a proper tag, displays it as visible text, and merrily keeps the italics running...and then they "leak" into the rest of the page outside the story proper for some reason. I've seen this before.
