I was enjoying it for how humorous it was...until that bit at the end where Rarity made the political comment. It felt out of character - even for the situation - and forced.
5115869 There's nothing about this story that isn't forced, but I can see how that might be a bit of mood whiplash.
In retrospect, I'm also not sure that Rarity would be pro-choice or the type to belittle others' opinions.
But well, too late now.

While I can see Rarity being pro-choice, I can't see her belittling the opinions of others for any reason. (Although to be perfectly honest, I can't see a herd based society like Equestria ever having developed that debate.)
As for the rest of the story, it was actually completely believable for the characters given the assumption that such books would exist in Equestria. It's perfectly in character the rest of the way...right up until that political comment of Rarity's.
