Hm... Hm... Mhmm...
Yep, looks like filler.
Well, at least your still alive, unless their posting this for you posthumously.
Keep up the good work.

Actually, that was the result of one incredibly long-winded individual that refused to shut up about one point over the coarse of several months until we finally had his IP banned...
The rape is kind of a touchy subject, to be fair, but it's never been all that bad. People that know me and TheCamel have come to expect that of us. Honestly, we caught way more flak (and I had way more fun fueling the hate-fires that resulted) from the way we introduced Specter and Nightshade than anything else.

Sheesh, way to ruin arguably the only genuinely positive chapter in this whole story since the plot kicked in, Debbie Downer...

There might have been a hint left behind as to their identities in relationship to one another that they might come across later... Y'know, if they don't kill each other first...

Oh come now, what would possibly make you think that after everything we've already done to poor Starshadow and Sunset that there would be more torment ahead...? I mean it's not as though that's our exact MO or anything...

Pfffttt... Bwa ha ha ha!! *clears throat* Oh... You, sir, get a gold star; hit it right on the head there. Seriously, that made me laugh until my head hurt... So, in honor of that, I'm going to drop some insider information in this response.
So yeah, many of the villains in this story are kind of one-dimensional, as they're designed to prey on the source of Starshadow's profound damage. They will be dealt with accordingly though (especially you, Stratus, you piece of shit). Polaris, on the other hand, is a true villain with a complicated (and occasionally contradicting) agenda based around the survival and thriving of his (allegedly) illustrious bloodline. That agenda includes several things we haven't actually touched upon in story yet (though we have hinted at them a lot in the last arc).
So as to Polaris's decision to hand Starshadow off to Stratus, there are three principle reasons behind that. One: while Polaris finds Starshadow's tendencies absolutely abhorrent personally, he is still more than willing to use them to the advantage of the family by talking Stratus into giving up majority control of the Weather Factory. Two: all those other things that Polaris is doing behind the scenes. From training the Royal and Lunar Guard to keeping the branch families in line and all the other business we haven't touched upon, the stallion is very busy. Certainly too busy to oversee a project that personally disgusts him to look upon. Three, and probably most importantly: Starshadow's very existence is a shameful secret to the family until she faces whatever destiny is awaiting her in the tome. Keeping that secret after she turned up in Los Pegasus with Starsong and simultaneously hunting her down has been... problematic for Polaris. Some valuable allies have become suspicious of his actions and, while he doesn't consider the Elements of Harmony to be a threat, with the princesses involved there would simply be too much risk involved in keeping Starshadow at the estate.
As to what exactly he expected of Stratus to do, that one's just as much a mystery to me as it is to you... I know the plan; he was supposed to break her the way she had been when she was actually a slave, and in that broken state they could force her to open the book. But honestly, Stratus was barely a footnote in Starshadow's story, and for all the things he did to her while she was working for him, he by far got the short end of the stick. Starshadow used him to obtain her keyboard and all of her equipment and launch her music career, and when she had the opportunity to tour she immediately left him behind. I don't know, I guess gaining control of the Weather Factory was worth the risk of bringing that dumbass into the equation to him.
... Oh, and I'm taking that gold star back. You forgot the Pole brothers and the Canterlot Underground...
Looks like there’s more between Nightshade and Specter that I had originally thought. Ok, let’s see how this goes...
