Sundry tales from a cyberpunk Equestria. Be it a mysterious murder, a corporate raid or a distant war, the Solar Kingdom knows no peace.
Princess Celestia declined her invitation (and those in attendance collectively let out a sigh of relief). And there was much cake and merrymaking. Happy anniversary to Cigarettes & Gunmetal! Better late than never, I say.
This cake is for you, Pinkacalypse, you glutton.

I knew there was a reason I even bothered upping this to fanfiction.net despite the clunky interface and the lack of illustration functionality. It's paid off a little bit, finally.
I'm glad you're enjoying the story, despite reading it out of order. It was always my intention for each episode to be a solid stand-alone story, like those of the actual show. Likewise it's nice to hear that readers who aren't enamored with cyberpunk might still find something to like about Cigarettes. It's a very niche genre, for sure. Some aspects of the setting including technology and story elements are nods to other works in the genre and out, while others are mentioned but not exposited on in much detail. I like to keep the pacing going at a steady clip without bogging down the narrative with long-winded explanations of every item of interest. It might give the illusion that there is more to the world than what is mentioned in the story. So yes, understanding everything isn't really necessary, but sometimes you can figure things out through context.
In terms of writing quality, I'd say I still have a little ways to go. Rereading my earlier chapters, I can't help but notice the choppy, bitten off sentences. It's a bit of a crutch: grammar's easy when the sentence structure remains simple. I'm trying to improve as I go, though, since I have plans to try publishing something original in the future.
Thanks for the feedback, guy. Stay tuned, the next part of Nox Aeterna is going up fairly soon.
