It has been many years since the last of the element bearers have passed on. All of them, except Princess Twilight Sparkle. After visiting her friends graves and a walk home through the now changed Ponyville, she decides to write one last friendship report to Princess Celestia.

I don't really see this as a sad story, but rather as a "moving on" sort of story. It's still very heartwarming, though. Those downvoters are probably trolling or something.

Thank you for telling a story that honors both Twilight's love for her best friends, and her knowledge that they need not be her only friends. The cannon story, "Amending Fences" shows there are lots of friends for Twilight to discover and re-discover. I agree with Eater-of-Worlds Smooze that this is more a "moving on" story than a true sad-fic.
