black-white gentlepony

E

A short story about Derpy's childhood, falling leaves and bubbles. And a bit about cupcakes.

This is my first experience of writing fanfiction, as well as my first experience of translating my work into English. I sincerely tried to do everything in the best way, but I think that the text still has some mistakes. Anyway, I hope you will enjoy reading.

I rather liked this. I think I will promote it to the few readers I have.

Great work, by the way, for having translated it into English. A lot of popular stories that do the same hardly do it with the same quality you did.

OK, a bit of a long comment here, so be prepared.

Black-white gentlepony, I've been kind of a lurker around this site for about a week now. Frankly, I'm still not 100% comfortable with the fact that I, a grown man, enjoy FiM as much as I do, much less with the fact that I enjoy fanfic of said show. You inspired me to register and comment, though, because this story brought tears to my eyes.

I have a daughter with special needs. She has an unusual combination of autistic symptoms that causes her to have a lot of difficulty communicating. Further, when she feels emotions, she feels them completely, almost to the point of overpoweringly. I'm sort of new to the Herd, so I don't know if we've ever been told what Derpy's whole mental health deal is, but I've always viewed her a lot like my daughter. They both want to be a part of things, but aren't quite sure how. They maybe don't feel completely safe being outside their own little world. But they want to do good, to help people. And whether or not they mean to, they build others up and bring them joy.

Your analysis of Derpy's inner world is what I hope my daughter's is like. She usually can't express herself in words, but sometimes very simple things--bubbles included, actually--carry her little heart so high that all she can do is laugh and jump and squeal. I am honestly not sure I have ever felt such pure joy exuded from someone as I have from her, not even my other children. Your analysis of the cutie mark, I think, is perfection. Bubbles are as simple as things get, just a thin film surrounding a pocket of air, and as fragile as can be. My daughter is never going to be a great scientist or a philosopher. I hesitate to call her "simple" because of the connotations of the word. But she is a pure, fragile little thing that brings joy to the lives of those who know her.

Some people don't understand her and don't give her enough patience or time. They expect her to rise to their standards. I thank heaven for the Fluttershys of the world who just let her be who she is on her own terms. They're patient beyond belief, and even though they can't completely understand what's happening in Derpy's head, they understand that it really matters to her.

In any case, this was a job well done. Pardon the sentimentality, but I wanted you to be aware that you really touched on something and shined a revealing light on a fairly irrelevant character, showing her to be--like all of us--someone that really matters.

To tell the truth, you brought tears on my eyes in your turn. Your comment really touched me. I hope you and all your family are gonna be happy and your daughter will meet only such Flattershys in her life.

And thank you. Thank you a lot. Now I really see my MLP-art is not an another senseless hobby.

2838244 Mate, all I can say is....welcome to the Herd. We're happy to have you, and I hope you'll stay. I'd love to meet your daughter; she sounds like such a delight. By the way, seeing g as you're new and all, I'd like to extensiond a hand to you in case you ever need help, whether it be with this site, emotional problems, or about the fandom. PM me if you ever need anything, okay? You may feel a little uncomfortable being an older fan of FiM, but just know thar you aren't the only one.

Again, if you ever need anything, don't hesitate to send me a message. We take care of our own.

Great story. I always enjoy stories about Derpy.:derpyderp2::derpytongue2::derpyderp1:
