It's quite good for your first fan fiction
You sure this is your first? It definetly hit me in the feels. Well done, no obvious spelling or grammar errors, either.
The thought of Derpy dying while the Doctor lived on...what a horrible thought!
Pretty good for a first fic. I like the concept. Not just the realization that he may someday be without them, but that Ditzy seems to get it too. I like the section with the 11th iteration meeting an older Sparkler- and still being referred to as "Dad" by her.

As it is a one-shot emotional/character fic, I do think it suffers from being a bit vague. If you write something like this, where you want to tug on people's heart strings, you want to get as descriptive as possible, and really make every bit hit your readers hard. Not to say that this doesn't do that, because it did. Could've been better, but I still got a little bit
All in all, well done.
2783068 Thank you for your helpful comment! I will be sure to take note of such, for any future fictions. I also thought it to be a little vague, but hey, this was written at three in the morning after 3 cups of coffee and "Mr. Roboto" on loop. It was an interesting night.

Poor Doctor....
It's hard to write the Doctor, at least for me. To describe the pain of knowing that every pony you care for will someday die, yet, you'd still have to on'n'on as you say... It's a hard thing to describe, but, I think you've done a great job of it. Couldn't have done a better job of it.
I'm sad now...
Which is a good thing in this case.
