Everyone always asked Tank where he was going.

He never knew how to answer them. How could one say that when time eroded everything else away, there became less and less meaning in a purpose.

All he knew is that the time passed him by, the more he always seemed to be leaving.

That's when Philomena showed up.

After receiving a 'Code Red' text from Rainbow Dash, Sunset Shimmer rushes to her friend's side... just to find out that the situation really isn't code red.

This story is a sequel to The Rainbow Plague

It's been moons since the initial outbreak of the Rainbow Plague, and Equestria has moved on. Other threats have come and go, Twilight was crowned princess of Equestria, the Rainbow Plague is a thing of the past. But when Rainbow Dash begins to have recurring nightmares, she believes that the plague may not be entirely gone.

After a long, tiring day of being a Wonderbolts, Rainbow Dash returns home, she lays in her bed and the next day she became her pet tortious, Tank!

Everyone always tells Twilight that the ones who love us never truly leave us.

But that's a lie. It's always been a lie.

Things that live must also die. It's simply the cycle of life, and that cycle doesn't care about love or the pain it causes.

Until one day, that cycle is broken by a forgotten figure from her past: a little tortoise who's not so little anymore.

This story is, first and foremost, a gift for the incomparable Mushroom, who clearly must be some sort of undiscovered species of fungus dog since we definitely don't deserve her. I have it on good authority that this story gave her Many Feelings, and I hope it gives them to you, too. :)

This also won first place in the of the Quills and Sofas Speedwriting '2021 Gift Fic Exchange' contest portion, which is neat.

I lost my pet about 5 or so months ago. Writing is very therapeutic for me and I thought the contest was a good way to do it. With that being said, here is my so unbelievably late (literally an hour past the deadline) that it shouldn’t even qualify, entry for the My Little Pony Renaissance Contest. Even if it doesn’t qualify that’s fine, I think I really needed to write this anyways. Sorry if it sucks, it was written in 4 days, that’s about how long I knew about the contest.

Missions and Bearer responsibilities can mean spending a lot of time away from loved ones, and that's one of the reasons Rainbow has brought Tank (the most awesome pet ever!) along with her to the Trottingham fair. Sure, she'll be stuck at the Meet A Wonderbolt booth for the whole weekend while the rest of the team actually does stuff, but at least she'll have company. And since being at the booth gives her the chance to sleep in, Tank can just use his rotor to go out and grab her some breakfast. Besides, even if something happens to go wrong along the way like, say, having the rotor leaking glow, it'll all work out. Ponyville's perfectly used to this sort of thing.

This isn't Ponyville.

And Trottingham's residents can be a little... off.

Rainbow Dash is just trying to get by. Life is hard in the city, especially when you can't afford top of the line upgrades. Racing has always been her dream, and if she can just prove she's good enough, sponsorships and prize money mean she can live like she's always wanted to.

But there are always setbacks, and she'll need help to make it big. And if she does, she may discover it's not at all like she hoped it would be.

Chapter 1 was my entry for the 21st Quills and Sofas Speedwriting contest. The prompt was "Good luck charm." The first chapter was written in an hour. Everything afterwards was the universe being too interesting to abandon.
