I just finished making my initial outline for Chapter 50 of Flash Fog, and it occurred to me that I'm actually getting close to the end of the story. I've been writing this story for more than two years now, and I'm finally within sight of the finish line--in fact, at my current rate, there's a very good chance I'll finish sometime around Thanksgiving.

(And to think I originally thought this story would be a 5,000-word oneshot...)

Well, I have finished the draft of Chapter 49. I'm going to give my prereaders some time to look it over, and hopefully, I'll be posting it tomorrow.

Okay, so I just started writing the next chapter of Flash Fog, and I was hoping some of my Southern readers could give me a few pointers on the proper use of the phrase "Bless his/her/your heart." Now, I already have a rough idea of what it means -- one says it when the subject of conversation (represented by an appropriate pronoun) has demonstrated a significant amount of naïveté. Well, it looks like I forgot to mention that I was working on the next chapter to Flash Fog. Well, I'm not only working on the next chapter, I've actually finished the draft, and I'll post it once my prereaders give it a lookover.

First, I'd like to thank those of you who contributed to my tip jar in the first week of this experiment. I very much appreciate the fact that you're willing to give me some of your hard-earned money for something that I've willingly given away for free.

Second, the latest chapter of Flash Fog is approaching completion. I hope to have it finished by the end of the month.

The draft of Chapter 44 is done. It came together much faster than I expected, but then again, a large chunk of this episode was outlined in the beginning of 2013, so the creative process was shortened a bit. Once my prereaders have a chance to look over it, I'll post it, most likely some time tomorrow.

Work has commenced on Chapter 44, which features a scene that has been floating around in my head since January 2013. Great grandmother, I've been writing this story for a while.

A well-meaning reader recently sent me a fairly exhaustive list of all the assorted typos and other errors they'd found in Flash Fog. While I readily concede that most of them were, in fact, mistakes, I was struck by how often this person noted that I had "forgotten" to italicize certain words for show emphasis.

For example, during the press conference in Chapter 16, the following exchange takes place between Hard Hitter and Fluttershy.

Chapter 43 is tantalizingly close to completion. I'm cautiously optimistic that it will be done this evening. If so, I hope to post it tomorrow, once my prereaders have had a chance to look it over. This is a fairly significant chapter, as it transitions from the morning's preparations to the final segment of the overall plot, when Fluttershy's plan is put into action.

Chapter 43 is well underway; as of this blog post, approximately half of it has been written.

Chapter 42 is approximately two-thirds finished, and it seems that it will be a bit longer than some of the recent chapters. Mind you, it still won't be particularly long, since I deliberately try to keep each chapter as short as possible, but at least that explains why it'll be a few more days before anything gets posted.

I'm very sorry that some of my readers are disappointed in what they refer to as "padding" that needlessly lengthens Flash Fog. However, I stand by my conviction that it is not "padding" at all. The twists and turns and such are there to make the story more interesting. If I hadn't written them, the story would be just as long, but it would also be intensely boring as I described how everything goes according to plan until I pay off the Crusaders' subplot. Plus, I
