And it involves birbs. Stay tuned 👀
I've been pretty silent here over the holidays. There's several reasons for the lack of time and energy in the last couple of months, the usual suspects being work stress and lack of quality sleep, but I also decided to pick up Cities: Skylines back in November. That game scratches the exact same itch that Minecraft did back when I first played it, so I've been pretty badly addicted to it and that has sapped a lot of my free time away from creative projects. Finally, I think I may have started
Birb time.
New Set Sail chapter drops on Friday :)
Oh and there's a second one coming soon after :>
Last night, I finally decided it was time to do something I should have done long ago. I have officially changed Learning Curve's status to On Hiatus.
We're sitting at two and a half years since the last update rolled out for that one. It's amazing how time flies. It honestly doesn't feel like it's been that long, but the numbers don't lie.
Recently, I realized that I needed to get some art for the less noble side of Set Sail. Our main villain has existed for years now as nothing more than words on a page and ideas in my head, but now we've got photographic evidence that he exists!
Before I hit the news, I got a commission from RavenSunArt today and I cannot describe how STOKED I am. I mean just... LOOKIT
I just love them, okay?
So concludes the last school break of my life! Yeah, my school has done away with Spring Break as a COVID precaution. I graduate in May, so now it's just a 16 week blitz to the finish line.
I don't have anything big to report in relation to the site. In the last month and a half since I dropped a chapter, I haven't even gotten to think about writing anything. The constant workload from school and the hunt for employment have completely precluded all personal projects. Hate to say it, but it might be a few more months before you see anything else out of me. Just know that I am not abandoning anything and still fully intend to keep writing here. Those birbs still have a lot
DI IS SUCH A CUTIE I AM GOING TO DI
Of all the main cast members of Set Sail, we know the least about Diamond. To be fair, she's not exactly an open book in her appearances in the story, but she definitely needs more time in the spotlight.
Also I completed a rough draft and Set Sail will be updating soonish :)
The editing process has been a little bit drawn out this time thanks to IRL schedules, but I think we're pretty much done! Only a few more tweaks may be needed before it's ready to hit the site. Barring any major revelations of problems, it will release on Tuesday!
New Set Sail will be posted sometime in the next couple of hours.
I'm actually really nervous about what yall are gonna think of this one.
LOOK AT HER
I have no idea how Diamond turned out so pretty, but here we are. I haven't stopped staring at this picture for hours. Yet again, I have created a character that I'm falling head over heels in love with. This is turning into a pattern, isn't it? I can't wait to write more scenes with her in them!
This lovely drawing was done by Doodle-Mark!.
Impostor Syndrome
At long last, the bird words continue. Get them below!
...I have completed the rough draft of Chapter 12. And It's BIG! Well, at least by my standards. Somewhere in the 11,000 range as of this writing, and it is most likely going to grow significantly on the second pass.
This might actually get broken into two chapters. We'll see how we're feeling once the editors have had their turn with it. Whatever the case, expect a lot of birb words coming very soon!
Anyone still here?
To say the last couple of months have been busy is an understatement and a half. Between school and work, I've been basically going 16 hours a day every day with very few breaks. And I still haven't had enough time to do everything better than half-assed. Ain't it a bitch when you're overextending yourself and it's still not enough?
