Buy a shirt, dammit. · 4:45pm Jul 25th, 2017
Some of you may have noticed (if you're looking at certain pages on FimFiction) ads for wlpshirts.com .
That's me. Or, at least, that's a subdivision of my tiny little company.

It's no surprise I haven't done much lately. But hopefully I can change that soon. I've already got a neat little project going, now I just need to sit down and write my own good stufftm.
I guess since I have nothing else to say, I can talk about a storytelling device I love just to ramble about something so this blog doesn't end up feeling hollow.
Never go Full Reta Alicorn
Okay, so that's not necessarily true in absolutely all cases. But it's a good rule of thumb to stay away from creating an alicorn OC until you have at least two of the following items under your belt:
a) enough experience (and by that I mean more than a couple of 1k one-shots)
b) a solid following of people that will help you not feel like you wasted your time writing it (or auto-hate it on sight)
IN WHICH I ANSWER A QUESTION
Greetings, all. Before we begin today, today's MV will be… Clapton.
Now, on to the show…
For those looking at this from my profile, please click read more this is important!
Evenin' fellas, i'm sure anyone who is still here that follows me forgot I even existed.
Just wanted folks to hear that i'm semi maybe kind of sort of back with a couple announcements.
As it says, I've had a few ideas every now and again, there's one I've thought of more and it would be a longer one.
I would have Clop stories, clean stories, and plenty of romance, would maybe take a suggestion if i liked it.
Warning! Rambling blog post about writing ahead! If that isn't your thing, you've been warned!
Okay, now that we've cut our audience by 90%, let's talk about writing things we suck at.
But I've mulled over it for a night, wondering 'Well, shit. I wanted to start my return with a series of stories ranging from three-shots to one-shots and now I have to slow my ass down. Boo-fucking-hoo.' Or that how my friend described me, blabbing at her to tell me what I should do.
You see, it was her fault.
“Mary Sue” is not a legitimate criticism of any work of writing and most of it's existence it has only been used to bully creators, specifically younger creators, just because their work is “cringy”.
Use Mary Sue with me and I'll just ignore what you have to say. It actively stifles creativity and isn't constructive at all. Good day.
IN WHICH I CAN'T BELIEVE IT
Note To Self: A pot of coffee will make the part of the brain that makes writing happen function, apparently. Also, living on a heavily forested hill gets annoying when all your trees are deciduous, leaves are fallen and wet, and your driveway slants at a steep angle -- this is the second time in as many weeks I've had to rake my driveway. So...
IN WHICH FRIDAY NIGHT
Hi! It's Friday night, and I've been writing more Sunset Shimmer and Rarity. I may have to split this one into chapters, but I don't want to. For the record, I often tell people I work well, not fast. Why not follow me past the jump? I promise not to bore you too badly!
IN WHICH I DO A PROJECT & WRITE
Now that I have a new lappy, I need to get all my music - over a hundred albums, many of which are on physical CD - burned onto my 1TB external SSD... using an external optical drive... the lappy merely acts as a go-between. Lately I've been thinking about the writing process again. Click text for insights of a crazy man?
Thanks to a piece I published last week called Your Faithful Disciple, I happened to be put in the feature box for the first time since joining the site, which happened at this point very close to a decade ago. In that time, I’ve put out only a handful of stories, many of which sit unfinished. But being featured inevitably attracts attention—attention for which I am grateful, and which has translated into the form of a bevy of new followers. To you, I say welcome.
Hey folks. Gonna talk about something other than ponies again. Japanese calligraphy! Model airplanes (ran out of space)! And then, at the very end, a little about ponies.
But first, a horizontal line.
IN WHICH I UPDATE YOU SORT OF
So… This neat song dropped early Friday morning. Thought I'd share it with y'all.
If you're tired of my recent MV's, just know I'm posting a FatRat vid next time. Anyway, onto stuff.
So, last night I went to see "First Man". It's a movie about:
(1) a man who can't deal with his own emotions, and really can't deal with other human beings when under stress;
(2) how wide Claire Foy can dilate her pupils; and
(3) how Buzz Aldrin was a completely gratuitous dick, even more so than history records.
IN WHICH I APOLOGIZE TO YOU
Aside from a few blogposts (including this question), I regret that November has gone by with no new story content from me. That doesn't mean I sat on my butt the whole time -- actually it does, but that's also my writing position. Anywho, I'll explain past the jump.
IN WHICH ONE IS ALWAYS LEARNING
Over the past week, I rented at the public library three of the greatest movies ever made -- the first two Godfather films and The Seven Samurai. I enjoyed the hell out of all of them. It makes me wonder what if anything they can teach me about how to improve my own writing. Let's find out...
IN WHICH NEW YEAR HAPPENS
A couple days late, but Happy New Year, y'all! Here's to hoping this year is better than last (which was itself better than 2016, a.k.a. the worst year of my life). Anyway, I have things to discuss beyond the jump, if you'll follow me.
Hey, guys!
Nothing big here. Just popping in to say I'm not dead. Compati is coming along. I'm, uh... *checks google docs* 21 chapters ahead of what's posted. Still don't feel comfortable resuming publication until I've pretty much finished the story, because story reasons, but yea it's still moving forward.
