In April of 2021, GaPJaxie, Cold in Gardez, and Skywriter all hosted the Friendship is Optimal writing contest. Our goal was to produce some good original science fiction and to bring new talented authors into the fandom, and we succeeded at both of those goals. Printed in this anthology are the seven winners, two of which are by first time authors, and all of which are remarkable. If you enjoy these stories, please consider following their authors on FiMFiction and elsewhere. Contests and prizes are great, but the thing that reliably keeps authors writing is the knowledge that people enjoy their stories, and the positive feedback they get from their readers.
