The guy is also using RPG Maker VX Ace Lite Edition, so it's pretty much up to me to make the game with his input.

Check out the WIP here. Currently I'm only working with the basic RTP assets and he seems content with it.

If anyone's interested in helping out, PM me and I'll give you the current project files and tell him that you're helping. The only thing I'll really need help with is mapping, but if you want to do other things, that's cool too.
