Writers seldom work with every idea they have. Sometimes the concept is too far outside what they normally tackle. Maybe it's the wrong rating, subject, character, or even the wrong universe. Whatever the reason, that concept will never become anything more. And that leaves a perfectly good story idea with no text to call its own.
This group is for writers to openly post ideas -- ones they have no intention of using -- in the hopes that someone else might try them out. On the flipside, that also makes it a place to hunt for story launch concepts when you're having trouble coming up with a starter idea on your own.
If you want to use someone's idea, post your claim in public. If you have one later on which you don't want to try, leave it here for the benefit of others.

Hello, everyone. I've been looking all over for this forum so that I could post my G1 inspired story idea. Here it is...
It's set between The Ending of the End and The Last Problem. Princess Twilight is visited by a tiny lava lizard named Sludge, who claims to be from a faraway land called Dream Valley. Sludge begs Twilight and her friends to bring friendship to Dream Valley and save it from war. The Mane 6, accompanied by Spike and Sludge, travel to Dream Valley and stop the various races (ponies, lava lizards, ice toads, etc..) from fighting. On the way, they meet a mysterious cloaked figure called Moochick and his bushwoolies. He tells them the story of Prince Lavan, who tried to stop a war between the lava lizards and ice toads, but was accidentally blasted away by a lava lizard cannon. The girls also take notice of a volcano that has been slowly growing and becoming more active since their arrival. Eventually, the girls fall into despair that they still could not convince the other races to stop their fighting. Sludge, also disheartened, transforms and reveals himself to be Lavan. He had hoped the Mane 6 would help, but had a backup plan in case they couldn't. The girls follow him into the volcano, which he reveals to be his own creation, Mt. Power. He then epxlains that he visited many different lands to learn about friendship in the hopes of saving Dream Valley before eventually landing in Equestria. There, he learned about the Elements of Harmony, the Tree, the Pillars, and crystal seeds. Mt. Power is actually the result of a crystal seed infused with his essence. When Twilight points out that it took the Tree eons to grow, Lavan explains that the Pillars only infused the seed once before they vanished and left the Tree to grow under its own power, while he has been constantly powering and nurturing Mt. Power. Now, after a mere ten years, Mt. Power offers him his own Element of Power, which he will use to force peace upon everyone in Dream Land. The girls try to fight him off, but he proves to be as skilled as even Twilight in magical power. Once he dons the element crown ad transforms into his crystal state, he is now the most magically powerful being in all of the world. Celestia, Luna, and several others from Equestria sense the disturbance and arrive to help the Mane 6. Discord tries to use chaos magic on Lavan, but it fizzles out in lava lizard's aura. The showdown between the Mane 6 and Lavan commences.
That's as far as I got. Not sure what lesson or realization I can present the Mane 6 and/or Lavan and the others of Dream Valley. Please give me your ideas and thank you.

The map calls the princess to help the village destroyed due to a natural cataclysm.
Upon arrival in the village, it turns out that help is no longer needed, because Flim, Flam have already begun to distribute their branded goods to the victims, singing songs that their death is not profitable for them.

Physicist Enrique Fermi won a Noble Prize & was important in the Manhattan Project (developing the A Bomb).
Developed the "Fermi Problem" to make educated guesses about probability of variables to develop a range of estimates
One of the most famous is Fermi's Paradox. The oldest detected planets are about 13,000,000,000 years old (the Sun is about 5,500,000,000 Earth is about 4,500,000,000). There should be about 100,000 alien civilizations but we have never found any evidence of one.
You know, thinking about it, DC Universe has Mister Mxyzptlk & Bat-Mite.
AFAIK, there is no MLP crossover. Of course, there is the problem that Discord arguably fills that slot.

Although, she was sentenced to death, she wasn't sentenced to STAY dead, now was she.
It's About Time, the Gates of Tartarus are fairly close to Ponyville
It would be possible to mount an expedition to get her back.
Pitched it to the author, their response was "Rarity was a serial killer. Folks are GLAD she's gone"

Not Luna, that Rarity saved at the risk of her own life.
None of the rest of the Mane 6, not even the Element of Loyalty, not Spike,
not one of her relatives, not even ONE pony that she helped?
Every pony alive, that's their response, no exceptions whatsoever.
& I thought humans were an ungrateful bunch.

There is VERY little about what Rainbow Dash did during the war
in the Fallout Equestria universe
I've gathered that she was the head of the Pegasus Airforce
& that when the Pegasi decided to split off from the ground
she opposed this but lost the argument.

Burger king has a completely vegetarian whopper called the imposiwopper and as far as I know nobody has writen any thing about it.
There's just so much you can do with that! I mean just think about it.
It's a great setup for human/pony interaction in a ponies on earth story.
The reactions of the restaurant staff, the anticipation of the pony trying something so taboo
(Even though it's completely vegatarian) or a human friend sharing a part of there culture with a pony.
The possibility are endless!

More than 1 "her" escaped that night, including Princess Luna -and most of Ponyville. Various ponies are convinced that the prophecy refers to them
I've had a few ideas before. Mostly crossover ideas, but since I almost never want to try because I'd be horrible at making stories like those, I never go through with them.
One is a crossover idea I had with My Name Is Earl. It'd have Earl, named Fire Pants, and Randy, Husky Pants as the only characters. (Both Pegasi) They weren't transported into Equestria, it's a story where that is their world.
The story would start similar to the show, Fire would get a lottery ticket, some FlimFlam Cider and a salt lick (Those last two things would be the replacements of beer and cigarettes) in Canterlot before stealing stuff from a families carriage and galloping off. Then soon enough, he'd get run over by a runaway wagon.
He'd be taken to a hospital where ponies were being given awards in motivational speaking. And after Iron Will announced a famous name that Fire had heard of before, he heard the pony say that his success was because of Karma.
From there, Fire makes the same list that Earl had made and realizes that most of his list is centered around his hometown, Ponyville. As the story would go on, he'd start doing list items around characters in the show.
"Called a filly in Flight School 'Rainbow Crash'" He was the reason behind Rainbow's bullying. (Rainbow would originally go nuts, but eventually befriend him and help with his list.)
"Put somepony's address on fake flyers about babysitting" The address was Cheerilee's, which is how she found her love of children. (But when Fire tells her, Cheerilee will at first abandon teaching because she'd think her love of children was all a lie. To which Fire would have to help convince her to start teaching again.)
"Set fire to a small orchard of apple trees." Yep, Sweet Apple Acres. (He'd have to make it up to all four of the Apple Family, even Applebloom.)
Tons of the items on his list would have to do with characters from the show, and maybe random made up characters whether inspired from other stories or not. I had plenty of other ideas for this story, and I had so many high hopes for the idea, but I couldn't get around two things. I've always had trouble with starting stories and I couldn't figure out how to make the writing-style for it.

-herbivores are feared and predators are adored. Bunny stampedes are actually dangerous.
-Lunas night is not loved STILL due to photosynthesis.
-cutting flowers is considered plant abortion by some ponies, leading the flower sisters to become controversial entities.
-the main six are lost and hopelessly screwed.
Just a concept with a possible first chapter. I don't have time to write anything due to work...
I Really enjoy this as an idea. I sometimes come up with ideas I want to run with and decide against it or put it way off on the back of my to do list. I might just throw some of those ideas here so maybe they don't go to waste
