In the beginning, The Great Weaver brought together the world, from the mountains to the forests. Stitching it together, the Great Tapestry connects all living and nonliving things.

The Changelings found themselves especially connected to this Tapestry. Legend says that the first Changelings fell through the world as it was woven together, only to be caught on the First Weave beneath it all.

But what happens when something else is caught in the Weave?

Prince Phasmatodea, son of Queen Chrysalis, remembers what it was like before he hatched. He remembers being a human. He remembers dying. And he fully intends on avoiding another death.

But being gifted a new life does not matter when one failure, one false step, will lead to your untimely demise in the Changeling hive, for Prince Phasma must survive his toughest adversary from the start: Mother Dearest.

Edgewood is a quaint farming community lying beyond the Appaloosan Mountains and the Forest of Leota. As such, it is but a short way from the changeling domains. The boldest residents banded together and formed a town militia, members of which are granted the title warden. Sparkhorn, a young unicorn artificer, has long desired to join their ranks. His best friend is a carefree pegasus stallion and town weather manager, Skyrocket. While both are longing for a bit of adventure, each has a much more personal goal. But much as life in Equestria shimmers, trouble always seems to brew. With a new visitor in town and a threat looming over Canterlot, the two young adventures may very well get their wish...

The story begins shortly before the events of "A Canterlot Wedding" and continues past the coronation of Princess Twilight Sparkle. Hang on to your hats, folks, we're going on an adventure!

He travels to Edgewood to deliver news to his lady charge while she is undercover, and retrieve her report for her elder sisters. Along the way, he reflects upon the ponies he is surrounded by, and grabs a snack or two along the way...

Changelings and ponies had always been natural enemies of each other, especially with the crystal ponies when they were around. Why wouldn't they be? Changelings were like parasites, feeding off the love that ponies gave off and driving them to illness.

However, Changelings had begun to decline. What started out with as seven hives have diminished down into three, all of which had gone into hiding so well that most ponies didn't know what changelings even were. Even Celestia had not seen one for quite a while, a long feat for an immortal pony.

Until she found a nymph. A new Changeling Queen.

Unable to find it within herself to abandon the changeling, Celestia ends up taking the nymph back to Canterlot under guise as Twilight Sparkle. The plan was simple; find the hive that Twilight belonged to and return her back to be raised with her race.

Of course, despite everything she learned through her long life, she had forgotten that things were never that simple.

For starters, she did not anticipate herself to grow fond of Twilight as time began to pass, or to beam in happiness when Twilight began to refer to her as mom.
