In the Holy Equestrian Diarchy, certain differences are punishable with imprisonment in a reeducation camp. Ponies that don't think the way they're supposed to, don't talk the way they're supposed to, and don't love the way they're supposed to, are locked away, out of sight, until they can be reformed.

Only nopony really ever gets reformed.

This is a Rekindled Embers side story. No reading of the original should be necessary, though there may be mild spoilers for Rekindled Embers for those who haven't read up to Chapter 23.

River the zebra took pride in her work as an agent of Customs and Immigration in Jubilation, the largest port of the Free Zebrica Republic. She didn't mind the paperwork, and quite enjoyed the company of her coworkers (even though one was a bit flirty, especially for a widower nearly a decade younger than her).

What changes might come when an unscheduled group of refugees arrive, seeking safety and a new home?

This is a Rekindled Embers side story. No prior knowledge of the main story is necessary to enjoy this one. However, if you wish a brief summary: It has been a thousand years since alicorns vanished from Equestria, which is now ruled by a bigoted, tyrannical theocracy.

In the warmth of her cloud home, Rainbow Dash is about to turn in for the night when she hears Scootaloo crying outside in the middle of a vicious blizzard. Plucking the freezing filly from the snow, Rainbow hopes to provide some much-needed comfort for the otherwise tough young pegasus, but she uncovers a disturbing reality that she knows she cannot handle alone.

Knowing only one pony that could really help her out, Rainbow enlists Twilight’s help, determined to set things straight for Scootaloo. But what Rainbow doesn’t know is that in her efforts to provide a better life for the filly, her friendship with Twilight will develop into something more.

A one-shot speedwrite, completed in 40 minutes, written for the Quills and Sofas contest FiM 10th anniversary panic fiction contest, on the theme 'friendship is magic'. (update: won second place!)

Luna has returned from her banishment to the moon, purified and reborn. She should be happy, but she feels lost. Who is she? She is not the Nightmare, but not yet the Princess of the Night that once she was.

Winner of the Quills and Sofas speedwrite contest themed on Princess Luna. One of my favourite princesses.

This story will eventually reappear as part of my behemoth origin story for the Princesses, but I liked it enough to publish it as a oneshot too.
