Take a minute to be kind to someone today, even if that someone is you. We all need a little more kindness, giving and receiving.

Nightmare Night date · 7:54pm Oct 28th, 2022

Another entry in the blog story section. Part of the story, just not added directly for various reasons.
Happy Halloween/Nightmare Night everyone.

Rainbow Dash pranced excitedly through the halls of New Guardia castle as she went over her date idea. She was certain she was introducing James to something new. Or rather she was certain this would be new for him. Before long she took to the air as she made her way closer to James' study.

The movie always came around as Nightmare Night drew closer, and was almost always sold out. But thanks to Twilight she not only had tickets, but tickets to this years opening screening. And taking a cue from James' opera date with her this was more than just watching a movie. It was true that this wouldn't be quite as immersive as the holosuite, but it was an experience best done with a group.

That brought with it what could likely be a downside. It was expected that she and James would be on stage with their friends. And he was very uncomfortable in the spotlight, not only that, but she had arranged to have him center stage.

As she thought about it, she had just signed them both up for a lot. But she did this every year and was certain that she could him ready in time. This was just too much fun to miss out on.

James sat at his desk as he read over another proposition that he had to clear up before approval. While not interesting, it consumed his attention enough that when Rainbow Dash suddenly dropped down on him with a “HYEAH!” James jumped up with a shout of his own.

Rainbow Dash snorted slightly as she laughed heartily at James' reaction. “Hah, gotcha!” she proclaimed though her laughter.

James took a breath and chuckled himself. “Yeah, you certainly did.”

Still holding onto him, Rainbow Dash controlled herself enough to speak. “Hey, so I've got an awesome date idea.”

“Sounds good.” James said, letting his voice trail off to encourage her to continue.

“But we've got some work to do before we go on this date.”

“That's a new one.” James admitted.

“Trust me, it's going to be so worth it.” She said, jumping off James and flying to look him in the eye and showing him the tickets and a brochure. “Yeah, it's kind of a tradition the girls and I have, but I figure if Fluttershy can bring Discord, I should get to bring you.”

“Makes sense.” James commented as he took the tickets and brochure from Rainbow Dash.

“And Twilight actually got us all in the first show this year, so it's even more awesome.”

Rainbow Dash watched James' eyes light up as he looked at the tickets, his half smile widening and threatening to take in his whole face.

“I guess you have some kind of movie like it?”

James nodded eagerly as he fought to control his smile. “Oh, Lucca and Tali are going to be so jealous.”

“I guess I could see if we can bring them too.” Rainbow Dash quietly offered.

James shook his head, “No, this is our date. Besides, they can catch it when it goes though here in a month or so.”

Rainbow Dash brightened up at James ensuring this was about them. Of course he didn't quite know what all would be going on yet. “So about that work …” she started to say.

“You're right, I got so caught up in idea I forgot all about that. So, what's this work?”

“Well, since we're all kinda celebrities, we get these tickets because they want us up on stage.”

James nodded as he listened.

“And that means you're gonna be up on stage with us.” She was certain that his tail was twitching as she spoke. “So we should probably make sure you know your part.”

James took a quick breath. “Makes sense. … What's my part.”

Rainbow Dash cleared her throat as she finally addressed that part. “Well, you're Dr. Frank-N-Hoofer.”

James's half smile returned as he gave Rainbow Dash a coy look. “You just want to get me in heals and stockings, don't you?” His voice clearly joking.

It was now Rainbow Dash's turn to feel uncomfortable. “Well, the girls and I all talked about it and after we had our parts, that was the only one left.”

“Okay.” James calmly replied. He didn't fully discount Rainbow Dash intentionally trying to get him in that costume, but he wasn't going to push it.

“So … uhm. I brought a copy of the movie, in case you want to watch … you know, to make sure you've got your part down.”

James looked to his work and back to Rainbow Dash and considered. The approval wasn't urgent, and it would be a couple hours until he got back to it. “Absolutely.” He said with a smile.
