Did two things this past weekend...

First, I ran 10k for the first time in two months after laying off that long to let my ankle bursitis subside, trying to allow the area to generally heal up. It appears it worked. To my delight, there was no ankle pain after and I hadn’t even lost much stamina thanks to hitting an elliptical machine twice a week for an hour instead of jogging. My upper legs are another matter, though. They’re

C&C chapter 40 entering prereads tonight + teaser

Much as I didn’t want to, I made the decision to break it up since the full length of the War Council meeting had exceeded 20,000 words and will probably approach 25k for the now-two chapters before all is said and done. The breakpoint itself will be between learning about the general war situation both Aricia and the Griffon Kingdom face, and then discussing what in all the Crows they’re going

Midnight Rising/C&C update: April showers may bring May flowers...

But of more interest is the emergence of 17-year cicadas in my area. Big, ugly, red-eyed insects that are the size of your thumb but basically harmless, as long as you can get past all the shed skins they leave behind on leaves and the everpresent and disconcertly loud background sound they produce as a mating call. Fortunately, the outbreak in my area seems pretty limited. There's a few around,

Midnight Rising update; Feathered Hearts C&C teaser...

Hey, folks. Here’s my weekly writing update. I’m tagging this as C&C since that’s what the teaser below is about, but the blog is about both it and Unleash the Magic - Midnight Rising.

Prereader verdict on new Midnight Rising chapter is in...

And unfortunately, that verdict is unanimous:

Complaints were: too meta, hard to follow, does nothing to advance the plot, and potentially makes things worse while trying to fix them.

Harmonic Resonance Epilogue Update · 7:29pm Sep 21st, 2022

It should be draft complete in a day or two, at which point I’ll pass it off to prereaders and the commissioner. Probably not soon enough for a weekend release, but we’ll see. Expect a three-section finale, with non-mature bookends and an M-rated middle section. And if you’d like something to look forward to, know that there’s an exchange of pranks between Gilda and Rainbow involving some of the alternate verses they saw.

One thing I’d note about it: you’re going to see a lot of references to other realities they’ve visited in the course of their multiverse travels—by which I mean, various other Fimfiction verses and stories, including my own. You can bet they’ll have a lot to say about them! Just keep in mind that although the characters discussing them might occasionally have a less than favorable view of these verses, I’m not casting aspersions on them or any of the stories within them. I’m simply showing how I think our new goddesses would react to seeing them.

If you’d like one example, they’re not particularly likely to look favorably on any verse which made Trixie the Element of Magic! :trixieshiftleft: But that’s definitely not to say that the stories out of something like the Lunaverse were bad ones.

So the 4th wall will not be broken but annihilation will come over it? :pinkiehappy:

But that’s definitely not to say that the stories out of something like the Lunaverse were bad ones.

Lunaverse was an interesting concept. Been years since I watched it. Good story.

Look forward to seeing what kind of 'pranks' Gilda and Rainbow Dash will get up to!
