My thoughts on Episode 7: Wonderbolt Academy *This contains Heavy Spoilers* · 4:09pm Dec 13th, 2012
Yes, the episode has been leaked.
[Link] ~ watch it before it gets taken down.
Spoilers: You Have Been Warned!!!
Rainbow Dash gets a chance to attend the Wonderbolts academy
Mixed feelings:
The first thing I notice that's wrong is that, once again there is another picnic without Spike.
It's an awesome Top Gun reference, we only need a Kenny Loggins soundtrack. It even had the same homo-erotic undertones as that movie.
Rainbow and Lightning Dust are Maverick and Iceman.
It's great to see Roid Rage again. There should have been a joke about a urine test and he gets nervous.
That one guy has the most epic mustache.
Oh look there's Thunderlane, Cloudchaser and Rain Drops.
Wheel of Torture, proof that wheels can't be trusted.
Spitfire is kinda of a bitch
There's the Roid Rage we love. "YEEEAAAH!!!"
This is how It should have ended. But, it doesn't end there, does it? Nope Spitfire at the end talks and when she talks and Dash gives her next actions, the episode takes a nose dive into terribleness.
I'm kinda disappointed by the lack of Soarin' or other Wonderbolts.
Rainbow Dash is now a recruit for the Wonderbolts. Yeah, that kinda writes her motivations out of the show. It's like saying were done, unless there is a follow up episode that shows that being a Wonderbolt sucks and she wants to go back to Ponyville. The episode would have been better, if they had just had Rainbow quit the team. and left like a bad ass.
The second worse thing in this episode is Pinkie. She's super ultra annoying. Oddly enough she's usually my favorite pony.
I'd give it a 5/10:
+ Nice visuals
+ Great cameos
+ Good jokes
- Pinkie Pie is extremely irritating in this to the point where you wish they'd remove her mouth again.
- A lackluster turn of events.
- Two-dimensional rival. I have a feeling that Lightning Dust is gonna be the new Trixie, only without the charm.
- God awful ending
- unnecessary cutaways, just to have the rest of the mane six in the episode.
- A wrong turn to take the series.
Agreed on so many levels, good to remember her insecurities. But that was way too damn much of it.
