For the first time in six years... · 8:36pm Sep 2nd, 2022
No new Firefly content on September 1st, which was the anniversary of Into the Storm’s 2017 launch (and deliberately chosen for also being the anniversary of the start of WWII). Feels a little odd to not be working on it now, but I’ll get back to it eventually. In the meantime, an update on my other stuff, including Feathered Hearts and Harmonic Resonance:
The next Harmonic Resonance chapter is now at 9300 words and still climbing, probably to around 12k before all is said and done. For as much as I’ve enjoyed it at times, I think I’m going to be glad when it’s over just for how hard these last couple chapters have been to write. Keep trying to outdo myself and I find I can only work on a few hundred words at a time. Nevertheless, I’m going to try to finish it this weekend and get it off to prereaders. That will be an enormous load lifted off my shoulders when I can stamp the story complete.
A new C&C chapter is underway as well and currently stands at 3500 words. Given what I’m attempting in it and the fact that it’s not first in my queue, my best guess is it’ll be ready somewhere around the last week of the month. I’ll say that I’m basically trying to make it so I can incorporate a great deal of the action and dialog of the original story’s chapter 9, but setting that up is tricky. As for things to look forward to, that will include:
- Raven and Knight reinforcements.
- The identity of the hiding civilians.
- The first use of experimental griffon weapons that were mentioned once before (no, NOT the eighty-year old musket designs they abandoned!)
- The first appearance of adolescent dragons.
- More new or modified Cloven forms.
- Finally, we get to see Gilda in direct combat more than briefly!
- Her reinforced but exhausted force making a desperate stand against a thousand Cloven for reasons that don’t immediately make sense. And won’t, until the very end.
So, plenty of stuff planned for the next C&C chapter. I’ll continue to work on it off and on around Harmonic Resonance but probably won’t hit it in earnest for a couple weeks. Once Harmonic Resonance is concluded, I’ll be working on the Unleash the Magic clopfics for October.

Girardi levels of firing a MG in Terminator style - excitement?
I guess Repeated Crossbows will be the addition since it's the best high tech they have. The lack mass production, but so far that was their tech before the Humans arrived. Bow-Casters seem also likely mixed in between.
I hope they have some mages, since wounded friendlys and battle fatigue has started to set in and slowing and lowering defensive forces.
I'm glad to see that your work on Harmonic Resononace is almost complete. The part with Sci-Twi has really been giving you trouble.
