Greeting again. After the solid success and contest victory of my last shipfic, I decided to go for round 2 with Bicyclette's ApplePie contest. I wanted to test my skills writing Pinkie Pie (having never used her as a main character before) and got to use a couple of ideas that had been burning in the back of my brain for a while (like the descriptions of Sunset's several failed dates).
I also wanted to push myself a little bit with this one. Specifically, this is the first fic I've written where I have MLP characters openly discuss sex. It's pretty mild, but I felt like in the past I've treated sex as a taboo for these characters, which started to a little like "purity culture" in uncomfortable ways. I'm writing these fics for a primarily adult audience, after all. So I decided to broach that slightly here. However, in retrospect, ApplePie may have been the wrong pairing to do that with, as I'll discuss below.
Anyway, I did try to get a lot of feedback for this one before posting. (Big thanks to my four pre-readers!) In general, reactions were quite positive, so I felt encouraged. I posted this morning and...

I'm not taking it that hard, certainly not as hard as, well, a certain incident veteran followers may remember. I have zero intention of taking this story down. I knew this was a possibility with ApplePie, especially when I made the decision to include no reference to the big elephant in the room with ApplePie.
Yes, I am aware that ApplePie is often treated as incest. The impression I got from Friendship is Magic is that Applejack and Pinkie Pie is that, if they're related at all, they're somewhere in the realm of fourth or fifth cousins, which is pretty far removed. Regardless, in EqG-world, it's a safe bet there's some kind of Ancestry.com equivalent that they've probably used at some point, so they wouldn't have the ambiguity of their pony selves. I shouldn't have to explain this, but no, I did not write an incest story.
Sigh.
Anyway, with that in mind, I hope you'll give this a chance. And if you like it, please leave an upvote. My next "story", coming at the end of this month, will be an anthology of the flashfics I've written so far for the Flashfic150 contest, since I finally have enough of those to reach 1,000 words.
