Hello everypony! Welcome to the 2nd edition of Pineapple on Pizza cafe! Today in honor of my wonderful fiance and very special somepony, I decided to have all the recommendations be about the MAIL today. Not all are about Derpy, surprisingly enough. Though most of them are. Derpy is the mailmare after all. Without further ado, here we go!
Summary: During her mail-mare rounds in Ponyville, Derpy runs into an unexpected individual who offers her a strange answer to one of her "signature problems".
This story surprised me with it being about Discord and Derpy. It starts off with Discord being bored and a bit pouty that Fluttershy is busy. But then Derpy shows up to deliver Fluttershy's mail, and Discord learns something new. I found it interesting that this was in Discord's POV and that he actually is trying to make up for mistakes of the past. He didn't have to help Derpy at all, but he knew Fluttershy would be proud of him for extending a hoof, or hand to somepony in need. The two ponies spend time together and Discord learns that anyone can make friends, even someone like him.
This story wasn't really that focused about mail, just the little bit where Derpy gets stuck in the mail box of Fluttershy, but I still found this little tale, cute. That's the best way to describe it. It also gives Discord a lesson he needs, and is just a fun charming little tale. I enjoyed this, and maybe you will do.
Side note-Author seems to be inactive, but the story is still up to enjoy.
Summary: When Discord submits a formal complaint to the Equestrian Postal Service, he says if the next mail delivery doesn't arrive in a timely fashion, he will plant a baby chaos monster in all the mail and packages delivered throughout Equestria!
It's up to Gabby and Derpy to try and save Equestria's only mailing service. Will they make it? Will they make it BACK? Will a giant purple monster take them away and keep them there... forever?
This story was oddly interesting, in that I knew to expect chaos with Discord in the tags, but I wasn't exactly sure how that chaos would be implied. It's interesting to see Gabby and Derpy working together to deliver the mail. I almost wished that was it's own story, but it's still nice to see them both. Discord's mail keeps disappearing and it's up to Gabby and Derpy to deliver the mail no matter what.
This actually does use a bit of metaphor's to show how hard it is to be a mail pony. No matter what the conditions of the outside weather are, you have to deliver the mail. Rain, snow, ice, sometimes freezing rain. You deliver the mail no matter what. It's not easy, so many people might think it's not that bad but fighting the elements and keeping the letters safe is a daunting task. I can say I am sympathize with mail ponies because I am engaged to one, so yeah. But this story really sells that concept. Good job on this, and take a look if you want a small dose of chaos today.
Summary:Through wind and rain, down track and lane, Ponyville Postal delivers. No matter the weather, letters bring ponies together, and Ponyville Postal delivers.
Parcel Post faces his toughest assignment yet.
This one is yet again featuring Discord. I'm noticing a theme with these mail stories. Hmm... Anyways, this one is great. I read this sometime ago because I saw a mail pony and had to read it. It's both charming, and amusing. The way Shaslan writes is almost like poetry. All the words and descriptions seem to flow together in such a creative way. It's a shame this particular story hasn't gotten more attention. Let's fix that shall we?
Summary: Sugar Belle, Sweetie Belle, and Bon Bon don't know what's worse: the fact that their mail always gets mixed up or how annoying they find each other..
I might be cheating a little with "underrated" on this one, as it does almost have 1,000 views, but this story is just so good that I would be amissed to not mention it. Bike is a very creative writer, and I originally reviewed this sometime ago. This story connects characters in interesting ways through the mail, ,and is quite hilarious and filled with little moments of chaos.
Summary: Nopony likes waiting for the post office to deliver that something special, but that wait is harder for some than others.
And then there's Pinkie Pie...
This story while it does have the most views of all the stories here, is about something very relatable. Pinkie Pie being Pinkie. I really wasn't expecting to find a story focused on mail that was about Pinkie pie waiting for a letter, but this is it, and it's so good too. Granted, not a lot of plot happens in this story, but sometimes it's the simplicity of a story that we all need in our lives. All Pinkie wants is to receive this letter she's been waiting for. And the fact she's so Pinkie in this, shows me this writer really knows how to write her. Take a chance on this one!
