Want Queen of Queens in Print? · 3:19pm Feb 13th, 2022

Hey! How's it been?

So it's no secret that I've not been active in the fandom for a very long time now. I do still check in once in a while, however, and I'm still in touch with some people who are still active. One such friend, who goes by Chicago Ted on here (and who is still active and wonderful and you should check him out) recently told me about this thing called Nonexistent Publications, who apparently make these super fancy prints of My Little Pony fanfics. How fun!

So long story short, I'm told Nonexistent Publications are currently running a poll to gauge interest in a possible future print, which you can find here. At the top of the list you'll see Equestrian Stories 2022, which would be a collection of short fics (<30k words). My friend Ted pitched to me that Queen of Queens might be a good fit for this, given that it was a pretty big deal back in the day. And I thought, what the hell! Might as well.

So if you'd like to hold a super fancy physical copy of Queen of Queens (as part of a greater anthology of other fics that I'm sure are all excellent fandom classics), hit the poll link and vote for Equestrian Stories 2022 (and any other ones you fancy). Once you've submitted, you'll get a second page where you can recommend specific stories for the anthology, where you can then input Queen of Queens (or anything else to your heart's content). Alternatively, hit this link to directly jump to the specific anthology recommendations poll.

Please note that this seems to be only a cursory poll to gauge interest, therefore nothing is set in stone. The printing may not happen at all. So if you want it to happen, be sure to show your interest.

I hope you're all having a wonderful time at the  days of the fandom. If you have any questions or something you'd like to share, feel free to drop me a message on here. I will see it... eventually.

Thank you, and I'll see you probably not very soon!

PS. I've been staving off an aneurysm as I struggle to birth my third original novel. It's been a long labour, stretching to several years now. I can't guarantee it will be out before the end of days, but I'm giving it an honest effort. Also gonna be looking at for-realsies publication, probably, as opposed to self-pubbing. I'll keep you all posted, but don't hold your breath.

Ah, what are the odds, I literally just submitted my own novel to a publisher ten minutes ago, though I've mostly been trying to get a literary agent on board, as that's the most common path for new authors to take. There's a book called the Novel & Short Stories Writer's Market that I've been using. As well as walking you through the process, it has a large index of reputable agents/magazines/publishers that's searchable by genre. Though according to Viking ZX, the industry is pretty difficult at the moment. Hopefully we can both find our big breaks!

glad to hear you're well :)

Did you end up submitting without an agent, or did you find someone? I might reach out to you for some sage advice down (like, way, way down...) the line. What's your book about?

And yeah, I've heard the industry's in a bad way, but then, it seemingly always is. Publishing has never been easy. I'm mostly curious if I can do it. I'm confident I've got something good here, or I will once I actually finish the damn thing, so I might as well try.

Better than ever, in fact. Good to see the old guard still kicking.

Given the index I was working out of, there are barely any publishers that take unsolicited submissions, especially for fantasy, which is what my novel is. The one I sent it to, Blind Eye Books, is more niche, which should increase my odds. They only take stories with lesbian protagonists, and mine has three co-protagonists, one of which is a lesbian, so I figured it counts.
