My First Blog Post In Forever. Physical Book News, Gauging Interest In a Sequel, and Other News · 3:25pm Sep 28th, 2021
This is just a brief, and very belated update post for those interested.
Okay, so! I've been planning a sequel story for some time now, years even, and for those who care who still don't know, there is a sequel in the works. It's always been my plan for WotP to be sort of a two-part story, with Winds being the first half. So consider this me just making the whole thing official. It'll be called Repercussions of the Past, and I'm set to begin working on it this year.
But even though I am going to make the sequel, I don't actually know how many people are interested in reading a sequel. I know it's my fault that the story took forever to finish, and that the time between updates was also rough. I was going through a lot of personal stuff, self-loathing, distain for the story itself... and I just seemingly lost any and all enthusiasm as the story just dragged on, feeling as though it was never going to end. It became a serious chore just to finish the freaking thing. The dwindling interest in the story really left me defeated as well, though again, I get it. I screwed the pooch big time, and I should've tried harder to have more consistent updates.
So! That's why I'd like to gauge potential interest.
Included below is a poll, and I'd like it if you could vote a simple 'Yes' or 'No' in regards to whether or not you would like to see a sequel story.
Secondly, for the majority of you who do not yet know, I will be doing a physical book release of the story. I'm optimistic about an October release, maybe around mid-to-late October, though it may get pushed back to November. I mean, I doubt it, but it depends on whether or not I'll need more time. So far, the bulk of the work is done. The cover art for the book is mostly done, but it still requires some finishing touches.
Not great I know, but I tried. I just really wanted to do the art myself, since, you know, it's my first physical publication.
Now I'm just working on the bonus scenes (chapters?), of which there are four. Three of them are done, and have been published to patreon. The fourth has been started, and is about a third of the way done.
They are as follows:
Future Plans - Rainbow and Twilight talk about the future late at night, while researching books at the Golden Oaks Library. Takes place after the events of the Everfree Forest.
Reconciliation - Wallflower confesses the truth to Rainbow about her memories. Takes place after the events of the Everfree Forest.
Tearful Reunion - Rainbow returns to Ponyville with the intent of apologizing to Fluttershy for being gone nearly an entire year. Takes place after the second-to-last chapter, after Rainbow leaves Canterlot.
Chasing Phantoms - Celestia rushes to the Everfree Forest to assist Rainbow and Twilight, when she finds herself confronted by a familiar face. *In progress*
All four of these will be included in the book version, once they're all said and done.
Afterwards, all I'll have left is compiling the remainder of the PDF, part of which I've already started. Then I'll maybe do some slight proofreading, and change up the wording here and there, but otherwise that should be everything. I'm hoping to charge around 20 to 30 USD, or whatever the equivalent would be in your currency, for either a paperback or hardcover, but I'll have to wait and see. I don't want to charge a lot (e.g. upwards of 50 USD), and would prefer to keep this reasonable because 1) I don't think it's worth it, and 2) I'm not doing this entirely for money. I'm just publishing this because I decided I would, and for those of you who want it.
Anyway, once the book's available, I'll make another post about it, with a link to where you can order one, if you so choose.
Lastly, after the book's release is done, I'll shift my priority to starting (and finishing) the sequel story. It won't take me years this time, I guarantee that. At the most, I think it'll take me one, maybe two years to finish. For starters, I've got much more of an outline this time around, and the chapters won't freaking be 10,000, to 20,000 words long. 
No, I'm thinking each one will be around... 5,000 or so words. So it'll not only be easier for you to read, but it'll easier for me to write as well. Seriously, I think part of the reason I got so burnt out on the first story was the length, the absurdly large chapters... I swear I am never writing such a large story ever again, if for nothing else than my own sanity.
But I've now had time to relax, and rejuvenate my mind. Over the past month, I came up with some exciting new story ideas and themes I want to include in the sequel. Without spoiling anything, I'm just way more enthused then I used to be about working on this. And then, after getting caught up on the comics (I think the Season 10 ones are amazing), and the Gen 5 movie (super cute and funny), I'm just bursting with new ideas and inspiration. I feel like for the first time in quite a while, I'm actually excited to be writing pony content! 
With that said though, I still don't know if I'm going to post the sequel here, at least, not right away. It's definitely going to my patreon first, but I'll probably post it here after several months to a year. I don't know, depends on how much I get done, because unlike with WotP, I want to have the majority of the story done before posting it here. So... see you then, I suppose? Hopefully some of you are still around by then.
I'm hoping to at least have the first couple of chapters done by the end of the year. That's the plan, anyway. As far as the plot of the sequel goes, all I can really say at the moment is that the main bulk of the story is going to take place several years after the first one ended, taking place around Season 7, and will involve Twilight and Rainbow being paired up by the map to investigate a peculiar friendship problem that only the two of them can solve.
Anyway, that about covers everything I wanted to talk about. Again, I'll post again once the book's available.

Glad to see you’re still around! I was honestly wondering if G5 would hype people up to continue with G4 content or just move on to making G5 related stuff. I haven’t seen the movie yet but plan on it since all my friends said they liked it.

The first 40 or seconds really tug at your heartstrings, and there were moments that hit me right in the feels, but just don't think too hard about the lore, or how this is connected to G4. I'm sure the eventual show will get into that. Anyway, yeah, I'm still around. Sorry about leaving discord, and by extension, your group. I get depressed, and kinda went through a big depressive episode. I felt like I wasn't worthy of being there, and that I sucked as a writer. Doesn't help that the artist that made my old cover art deleted it from her profile for reasons I still don't know. Made me seriously question myself... But I'm back now, and confident in myself again.
Hey, I wanted to ask since you're here... I know you're on hiatus, but are you still interested in doing artwork for my book, or no? I mean, it's cool if you're not, it's just that I know you said you would, but it's also been months, so...

it’s unfortunate but the things you and I love from back then won’t be getting the same kind of recognition and love nowadays.
That’s understandable, especially for content creators. That’s why I mainly draw for my friends and my own enjoyment rather than putting my art’s worth in what other people think about it. You also have to remember it’s been over 10 years now
But yeah I still wanna do some art for it after I give it a reread. I just have to take a break from drawing every now and then or else I really burn myself out, not to mention it takes a lot of time. I also have plans to write an original TwiDash fanfic and continue one I found recently that I really fell in love with but never got finished. You’re always welcome to come back if you’d like.
