Finally watched MLP movie!!!!! (Spoiler) · 10:56am Sep 25th, 2021
Overall, I like it! It was pleasant surprise.
It does contain a lot of easter eggs regarding Friendship is Magic for those who grow up on the show. (Especially when Mane Six briefly appears in the opening scene)
I thought characters are likable and nice use of foreshadowing... the songs are catchy.
The only con I can give is the villain... Sprout seems to be more of a funny character than a genuinely threat villain.
On the bright side, they leave some stuffs like what causes the ponies tribes to hate each other in the first place unanswered so they can explores those stuffs for their own show.
Yup, the movie did good job of setting up G5 show.

I enjoyed the movie too. I admit I was not expecting much from it, but it was fun and I feel the future of the franchise is in safe hands.
I am not sure Sprout is much of a “villain” per say. True, he is the closest thing the film has to a main antagonist, but he seems to truly believe what he is doing is right. He is also held back from being a true villain because of his comedic traits, like being a total coward and momma’s boy.
I am personally curious what happend to all the other creatures the ponies befriended, like the Dragons, Changelings, Yaks, etc. I hope they explore that a bit in the future G5 show.

That's possibility they could explores non-pony creatures.
I doubt Spike is going to be in G5 cause.... he's likely dead considered the film states Friendship is Magic show takes place in Ancient Equestria and Spike probably dead by that time but who know.
Yeah, I agree with you on Sprout... I really didn't get a villain or threat vibe from him... he's not threatening like Nightmare Moon.... he's just a stallion who is a momma's boy.
Maybe better villains will come later.

I don’t know about Spike being dead, after all dragons have incredibly long life spans. So if he does appear he would look like how he was in The Last Problem but now the size of Kong.
You probably know that I myself am not a big fan of the movie, right?
