Work is Hell

As the saying goes, War Work is Hell, folks. I’ve been working extra hours every day this week and probably will do so next week as well, to support a software release for the end of this month that we’re not allowed to let slip. As a result, my writing time has been severely limited and I’ve only generated 3400 words on the new Firefly chapter so far.

I’ve been coming home consistently late, exhausted and cranky, missing both writing and workout time, and I value the latter quite heavily. The worst was when I got home and started to cook dinner only to be texted and told to get back online to address an issue. That forced me to turn off the stove and kept me staring at a screen until after 10 before I could finally cook my fish and eat it, which doesn’t exactly lend itself to easy sleep after.

I’m still going to see about getting the new chapter done in time for next weekend, which is possible if I can get some solid work on it this weekend. But don’t be surprised if some of my current harried and unhappy mood leaks into it. If it does, I’ll at least make sure it can support the story. Hopefully, this hellish work pace will relent by the end of next week. If it doesn’t, they’re risking us all burning out.

I’ll post a teaser of the new chapter when I’ve got a little more content to share.
