Theory 2: Who Told the Story? · 8:27am May 1st, 2021
It is very commonly known that the story of My Little Pony Generation 4 was mainly led by Twilight Sparkle and her friends, but a ridiculous thought crossed my mind. Is it possible that someone was transmitting those stories from our world to the human world? To me, it is very much possible due to the fact that we have 4th wall-breaking characters such as Pinkie and Discord. So... who exactly told the story. Well, guys, you will not, and I repeat, WILL NOT believe what I will say next. Let's begin.
So who exactly is telling this story? To answer this question, we must consider a few factors, such as how frequently a character appears in the series, so it probably isn't Autumn Blaze. You may ask:" Wouldn't the pony knowing the story be Twilight Sparkle? Let's wrap this up and go home," And to that, I say, not so fast. We also have to consider how a pony would interact with humans to tell the story and Pinkie and Discord are the only 2 characters who can break the 4th wall. But a problem in this would be the fact that Discord and Pinkie were not in every episode. And while Discord is able to recreate scenes in the past like we see him do in What About Discord in Season 5, he was nowhere to be seen in the MLP movie hence would not know what and how to recreate it and if Pinkie were to be the one telling the story, it would be chaotic as all heck.
So who is it then?
Well, we have to set a few conditions to find out the answer.
1. Must have connections to one or more main characters in the show (mane 6) OR
2. Appear in the background long enough to know the situation
And my fellow bronies, may I present to you the one mare who was behind it all
Lyra Heartstrings
Nope nope, you are not seeing anything wrong, Lyra Is the one who told the whole story and I can prove it
I've always found the books and comics to be interesting. Despite the comics and books to some people be considered not to be canon, I've always considered it to not only be canon but to be in the continuity as well. So let's assume everything we have is canon unless the show proves it otherwise.
In the book, Rainbow Dash and the Daring Do Double Dare, during the book club meeting, we have an interesting (and funny) interaction between Pinkie and Bon Bon where they talk about nametags. Notice that her name was specified as Sweetie Drops and not the alias Bon Bon that she uses in the show and also note that the book was published in 2013, 2 years before she revealed herself to be Sweetie Drops in the show. But even so, canonically besides former Agents of S.M.l.L.E, Princess Celestia and now Lyra, no one and I say no one knows who Bon Bon really was.
Speaking about the Slice of Life episode, let's examine a few things, shall we? So in this episode Doctor Whooves talks about his childhood and scientific aspiration in the TARDIS with Derpy, Matilda and Cranky are furiously trying to settle their wedding and the Mane 6 fight a bugbear. But what I was more curious about is the fact that:
1. The Pony who shows this to us knows everything that is going on
2. This includes Bon Bon's confession
You see what I'm getting in here, no one else in Ponyville would know who Bon Bon really was other than Lyra and curiously enough, Bon Bon's name was Sweetie Drops in the merchandise as well before everything went down. Evidence #1 down.
Now I would like to turn your attention to the Season 10 comics, in the very first comic Twilight assigns 4 groups of ponies for diplomatic relations. One group going to Bird Kingdom has Lyra and Bon Bon and curiously under Lyra's tag it reads "Secret Agent". Hmmm when did that happen, the books?
In Lyra and Bon Bon and the Mares of S.M.I.L.E, Lyra herself gets recruited as a secret agent when the secret agency reopens its operations and assigns Bon Bon to another assignment involving changelings (the book was cool not going to lie, definitely go and check it out). And that book, who else would detail the mission as well as Lyra and Bon Bon as in the end of that book, no one knows what had occurred at all (sorry for not being specific, it is a massive spoiler alert). So if no one knew what had happened in the end except the agents of S.M.I.LE and Lyra and Bon Bon. Evidence #2 down
Thirdly would be Lyra's relationship with Twilight. In Amending Fences, it is revealed that Twilight was an old friend of Lyra's in that episode and even in the first episode, Lyra is seen waving to Twilight. So did they ever get back together as friends?
2 things suggest that:
1. Twilight invited LyraBon for the diplomatic mission in the season 10 comics knowing full well that both of them are secret agents but I assume that Twilight was told that after she received the title as ruler of Equestria as the Agents are top secret except for the ruling Princess.
2. In the episode Rock Solid Friendship, Pinkie pulls Lyra in front of Maud, making her think she was a rock. Now, watch where LyraBon are walking towards. The path that they were trotting to was the Castle of Friendship and this episode was in season 7, suggesting that Twilight has amended relationships with Lyra.
This is very important as Twilight probably told the both of them about her adventures after she left Canterlot and everything else no background character could because they are not close to Twilight. Lyra is also seen in some episode either bouncing down maniacally like in Winter Wrap Up or the season 3 finale and sitting down as a human in Dragonshy. I find these to be very specific actions to remember. Surely, no one will remember those actions unless you are the pony herself.
And that is all for my evidence
But how then? How is she able to transmit the story to the ones viewing it? In the fanon, Lyra is also known to have a fascination for humans due to the sitting position she adopts and so wouldn't it be totally like Lyra to use S.M.I.L.E technology to transfer these stories from their world to ours in a show style format? It is plausible, but then again, in Equestria, everything is possible. So I would appreciate your thoughts about this below. Have a nice day!
