Writing Shameless HIE · 8:01am Apr 14th, 2021
Does anyone think writing cliches and not caring sometimes is quite fun when making HIE stories? I find myself not caring a lot of the time. I am not trying to write some epic story like LOTR, just comedy smut. I found writing shameless, cheesy HIE fun. It's not a realistic scenario, sure, but fun.
Take my story Super Secret Petting as a perfect example of a trashy HIE story. Little to no build up to the romance. Just plain smut really.
Most HiE is just repurposed isekai. Human X encounters mundane event Y(usually getting hit by a truck or lost in a storm) and either plummets from the sky, literally landing in a land populated by multicolored magical talking ponies, or staggering out of said storm into the land of ponies.
Though there are stories that parts with the usual formula. Person falls asleep in their bed and wakes up in land of the ponies. Person gets into a car crash and they, along with their car comes tumbling into a pony settlement. Something truly extraordinary and magical happens, like a portal opening up in full view of he public, and the person gets sucked into the pony world.
Sometimes you get the PoE reverse-isekai where a magical technicolor talking pony winds up in the human world through a magical mishap.
But to answer your question, sometimes good old fashioned smut(whether comedic or serious) is good for the soul and what ails ya.

I think that's just looking at how it starts out. Yeah it's basically an isekai, but good HiE stories actually do something good with it, like the countless first contact stories. Others have a really good character (funnily enough, Anon himself is his own character because he's so identifiable) that meshes well with the other in universe characters.

Good Isekai stories do something good with it too, by definition. It's just that 90% of everything is crap.

I meant like past the first chapter it doesn't have much of an isekai feel, more like a first contact feel. Also I love how you used sturgeon's law lol
My highschool teacher repeatedly said the biggest biz in writer was erotica. You know, the cheap, industry standard, girl in the guy's arms cover art, stuff. I dont have a problem with it.
