An Announcement: Going On Hiatus · 1:28am Apr 7th, 2021
For the last couple of weeks, I've been on a semi truck. For the couple of months before that, my writing was next to nonexistent because of various family problems. And I don't expect things to get better for another few weeks at least. But don't worry, I'm still thinking of you- of everyone, not just my paying patrons.
So, in light of this inactivity, I've done a few things.
First of all, patrons will not be charged for May, or for any month going forward until and unless I am producing at an acceptable rate once again. I'm not about to charge you for something you're not getting. It wouldn't be legal in the grocery store, why should it be online?
Second, to keep people from taking advantage of the above setting to gain access to my docs channels in Discord, I have enabled "Charge Up Front" on Patreon. That's a permanent setting. But what does it mean for you? If you are already a patron and don't change your pledge or anything, nothing. You'll see absolutely no difference. The main difference will be that new patrons will be charged when they first become patrons, and the same will be true for increasing existing pledges (though you will only be charged the difference). Note that this charge is separate from the billing cycle, so will still go through, even if the monthly charges won't- and, especially once I resume billing, the beginning of the month is the best time to make or increase a pledge. Another difference will be that, if you are a patron and cancel or reduce your pledge, rather than instantly losing access you'll keep the perks of whatever level you're at for the rest of the month, because you've "already paid for it".
Third, to give people a reason to still go over there and become patrons, or even to go up to higher tiers, I will still be publishing- but exclusively to patrons. Rather than cycling the chapters down with the whole "x-weeks early access" thing, since I'm suspending public publication, this will be a "get x number of non-public chapters per story" thing. Whenever I start producing at a decent rate once again (or get a significant enough backlog of chapters that nobody has read yet), I will resume billing (after the first of the month, so you don't get charged extra) and simultaneously resume the normal publication schedule, including shuffling chapters down through the tiers each week.
There's basically nothing available to patrons-only right now, but go ahead and give my Patreon a "follow" if you want to know when I post stuff. Patreon will give you 140-character sneak peeks at each chapter, and tell you how many you're missing out on in each story, without requiring you to be a patron to do so. It should help with the patron-or-not-to-patron question.
And finally, I will still do my best to satisfy the various other perks of the various Patreon tiers whenever I have the time to do so- including commissions!
At the moment, I'm currently expecting a publication rate- to patrons- of something like a chapter a month, possibly longer.
