That one thing I mentioned a while ago · 4:32pm Dec 1st, 2012
Okay, so, a while ago I mentioned this thing that I wanted to write on a different site. I was supplied with a site known as Fictionpress. net as a place to post it, and that story is actually under way. In fact, the prologue is done and posted. If any of you would like to read it, click this deliciously blue text right now, gall durn it! I am still open to assistance from you guys, and I am also open to any ideas you can supply (although thanks to the amount of lore I have already come up with, your ideas could easily be rejected, but it wouldn't be your fault), and I would love to hear what you have to say about the story.
The Pen Name on that site is Arbiter English, but please, call me English.
I can't wait to see your comments there, and I would like to thank you guys so much for reading my stories this far. It's people like you that'll get me anywhere as an author.
P.S. I will be spending plenty of time writing this, so I have tagged Oh... , Serenity, and New Perspective to inform you that those stories will need to expect delays.
I don't know how to put it into words, but all I can tell you is the wording was so childish it put me off of reading it entirely. No amount of denying this lack of a hook will save you.
And I think this time, it was just too rushed to see what the hell was going on. I found no familiar footing in this strange new world I was supposed to start a journey into, so all these sudden jargon and tacky and campy titles sound alien and bizarre.
660425 Hm. No one complained when J.R.R. Tolkien did the same thing.

Oh reaaaally? Pick up The Fellowship of the Ring NOW and read the first chapter. How unapproachable is that first chapter really, hmm?
678240 I wasn't implying that his story was unaproachable, I was implying that he thrust the reader into a world where he narrated as though the reader already knew what things like trolls and hobbits were. Don't say he didn't because he used the word 'hobbit' five or six times in 'The Hobbit' before he actually explained what that was.
Besides, would you prefer if I stepped completely outside of the plot to explain something like the geography and placement of a country? Or would you rather I explained it in offhanded notes such as referring to a cat person as just that shortly after using the race's actual name?
It's hard enough to imagine a world all of my own, but can you imagine how difficult it is to explain it? For that matter, can you imagine how much work goes into writing a story in said world? If you think you can imagine those two things, try imagining how hard it is to do them simultaneously.
I'm sorry, but you offend me by pointing out things that authors like J.R.R. Tolkein and John Flanagen did, but weren't criticized for. Flanagen, by the way, wrote Ranger's Apprentice, and the geography of that world wasn't thuroughly explained until the tenth book of the series, but no one minded.
Can you honestly say that my story is bad simply because the names of towns sound weird? Or because my style of informing the reader about these things is odd? Here's something to chew on: the characters of the story know just about as much as you do. One of them is from a xenophobic city-state where geographic education is horribly outdated, another two are from a waring anarchy where there is no education, another one is a robot that somehow learned to think on his own, and the last two are princesses whom actually haven't encountered anything in the story aside from issues of the heart. By the way, nothing I just said hasn't been stated in the story yet, in case that's important.
I don't mean to offend you by saying anything audacious, but trust me, I know what I'm doing. I don't mean to sound arrogent by saying that.
Now, excuse this lengthy wall of text, but I just wanted to say something in my defense rather than being subtle about it. I'd say something snarky about you being a 'pony troll', but honestly it'd be in poor taste and I'm more civalized than that. I hope there's no hard feelings for this.
