When writing a fallout story creates an entire new hobby · 3:48am Mar 18th, 2021
So I'm working on chapter two of my fallout equestria story
[Adult story embed hidden]
Progress is a little slow because I'm researching cold-war era politics so I can set the scene for second chapter, but that type of research led me down a rabbit hole for chapter 1 and I came out the other end with an entirely new hobby.
For those who don't care about spoilers ( I mean there's only 1 chapter right now, go read it really quick and leave a thumbs up and a comment!) the story starts out with a character who works in a small electronic repair shop with her friend. Because I wanted to get the details right, I started watching youtube videos about small electronic repair, specifically antique radios. I watched about 15 of them, and then my recommended was full of small electronic videos and then I was taking apart an old television
I bought a soldering iron and some junk radios I found at some second-hand stores and I started de-soldering components
After several days of going to the secondhand shops and buying junk electronics, my living room table began to overflow, and after getting tired of de-soldering components, I also started my first project of trying to get a novelty Las Vegas sign working
And now finally, because there's way too much shit on my living room table, I went out and bought a whole ass workbench just so I can organize everything and have a space to work.
So because of one chapter of a fallout equestria story I ended up spending something like $700 on a brand-new hobby. What's going to happen if I want to write about my character making chems? Am I gonna go out and buy a bunch of round bottom flasks, some Erlenmeyer's, a heating mantle, a fume hood, and start doing wet chemistry? What if my character gets really into jazz, and I mean like really into it? Am I gonna have to buy a saxophone? What if she wants to make a nuclear warhead?
This is a dangerous precedent that has been set, and I'm only one chapter in!~
Up next, chemical weapons
