Rainbow Dash's Mark

So I was thinking about something non-pony related and somehow got to cutie marks. Now I have been under the assumption that her talent involved speed/flying/and or something like that. But I got to thinking about that spell Twilight cast that switched all her friends cutie marks. Each friend acted kinda like the one who's mark they received but more importantly they seemed obsessed with following the talent their mark represented. I was fine with everyone til it just hit me that rarity had rainbows mark and only seemed obsessed with weather manipulation. Am I remembering wrong, if rainbows mark has more to do with weather than that rainboom she made was a mix of practice and supernatural talent based on manipulating the air or some crap and not just because she broke the magical and nonmagical sound barrier.
