ask me things in the comments blease and thank you · 5:25pm Nov 30th, 2020
I am bored and my semester has been over a bit. While I've gotten quite a bit of writing done since then (most of it is unpublished) I'm still kind of distracted. My last two stories roped in a lot of new gremlins. Way more than I've gotten in a while. Also, getting to know the person behind the screen and pen name is something I am admittedly bad at doing. I figured doing another ask-me-anything blog would be a pretty rad thing. If any of y'all have suggestions for things I can blog about in the future, that would be great too.
For example:
- I've gotten super behind on my horse book reviews. I just haven't been around them much to photograph them all and stay up to date.
- I used to do review things sometimes. Maybe I should do that again, where I take a long and popular story and make a blog series where I review it. I suppose this would depend on suggestions regarding very hyped-up stories the fandom knows a lot.
- Should I take time away from writing... to make blogs about writing?
- I guess I could show off more revised story stuff.
- I guess blogs could be about me too... but why? What do I have to talk about that makes sense to make a blog series? What would any of y'all actually want to know about me?
- What do most folks even blog about?
I just didn't realize I had so little follower engagement outside of story comment sections. If I can do anything to improve that, it'd be cool.

You could read some reaaaalllly long stories like The Olden World
It's exactly 1,000 chapters long
5407507
I was thinking of something that was closer to the general novel-length of 50k-300k.
5407508
Oh
Well, if you change your mind, then the title of the story is right there
Tell us how you feel; I'm sure many here care for you and might want to hear all your thoughts and your point of view of the world.
5407510
I think it's on one of my read it later lists. It's just not something I could break down into a blog series of something like 1-5 posts, roughly. That would be way too much for a realistic review blog commitment, especially when I don't regularly do this.
5407511
I guess my problem with general/social blogging is that I kind of need an idea of what to filter and an angle of myself to capture. Otherwise, I would just have unfocused rambling. Something of a general mood or subject, y'know? I don't have any particularly interesting schedule, I'm not really aiming to be a political blogger[1], and I just lack the kind of focus of "Oh, that would make a neat blog idea" kind of dealio.
[1] They're oddly common on this magic horse site.
5407513
Yeah, kind of the same thing happens to me; however, that's why I only post a blog when I feel like it can be responded by people.
5407514
Sometimes it just be like that, unfortunately.
5407515
The hell you're right, mate.
Ay yo question:
If roses are red and violets are blue, do things really be how it be?
When are you gonna write a SunFlower story?
5407522
I have fifteen stories to be written in my unpublished stuff. They're all long projects. That's, erm, like 2-3 years of work right there, probably?
This does not include one-shot ideas that are gonna be under 4k stuff and currently incomplete projects.
It just be like that. 🙃
5407519
5407516
Yes.
If I showed up to your house with candy corn pizza would you eat it
You could write a series of blog posts on various theories about what Sombra's human counterpart is up to. What's his job, did he ever have involvement in Crystal Prep, is he evil, how will he ever end up with his one true love, Luna? That sort of thing.
That might then inspire people to write things about your OTP on the Sunset side of the portal.
Also, what type of pizza is Santa-Som eating in your avatar?
5407525
Only 15? I have like 23 or 24 unpublished stories.
Do you think your geographical location/ upbringing influence the nature/narrative of your stories?
If yes to any, how?
Why do you hate freeze peach so much and how long have you been literally the same as a Nazi
Gretting's Ice Star, I am Seth Standmore the author of Isekai and displaced fiction's, I have an inquiry for you, how do you make people like your story's, I have worked hjard to make my story's as good as they can be but, some people (I think a few of them might be Nazi's or homophone's) do not care for them, it is driving me into dispear and I donut know what to do, can you help me out thanckx's for your time
Sincerely Seth Standmore
why are you so hard on yourself. be nice to ice star :3
It's too early to review but I think you should read Shadow of the Doubt again. In all seriousness though, I don't have much for blog suggestions, because I myself don't post blogs too often either. I actually think you blog a decent amount, and even if it's not something about yourself or anything, I think it's fine.
Something about this may be interesting though, whether it be about your writing process or just various sources of inspiration. Well, it would interest me anyway.
Also obligatory question: May I pet the ponies? Please?
I always loved doing blogs just about my writing process and laying out tips for newbies. Heck, I had a video blog once while I talked about my stories during a haircut, lol.
I think you should definitely give us some insight into the real Ice Star and what he's like. How do you come up with your ideas and why did you start writing in the first place?
1. Off the top of your head, your three favorite books.
2. Off the top of your head, your three favorite fan fictions.
3. Why don't people think it be like it is, when it obviously do?
4. Who is best pony, and why is it Applejack?
5. What made you first get into writing, and writing ponies specifically?
6. Favorite fan art?
7. Who is best Student Six, and why is it Yona?
8. Favorite ship? Least favorite ship?
9. Best advice for someone with writer's block or similar motivation issues he asked with no ulterior motive what-so-ever?
And perhaps the most important question of all...
i.imgflip.com/4oe1kl.jpg
When you add milk to your cereal does it become a broth or a stock?
Or do you continue to call it a beverage?
Is this the Krusty Crab?
WHY WEREN’T YOU AT ELF PRACTICE?!
How many snakes would it take to defeat you?
You gonna make more Momlestia and Sunset fics?
You say you don't like pizza, but your Sombra avatar is eating a pizza. Curious.
I like this idea. I have a few recommendations for long stories of varying length!
5407550
I think we know what Ice Star's favorite ship is.
What’s the best type of bean?
What do you like doing the most?
P.S. Are you currently playing Genshin Impact.
5407528
they are long ;~;
5407526
No. I like candy corn. I dislike pizza. Together, they would be horrid.
5407529
I'm from the American Northeast and I haven't had the chance to travel much. I don't ever draw any particular inspiration from geographical locations for any of my stories. Other than general fantasy landscape stuff, I think I've looked up more examples of terrain that I want to incorporate in my stories than anything else.
As for the second: sort of, but not quite. The only real influence I have for my upbringing is I can write about child abuse and certain mental conditions from an authentic perspective. Oh, and I guess my philosophy classes at uni is good for horse puns and incorporating material for characters to discuss and helps place a lot of terms on concepts I didn't previously have any one specific name for. Occasionally, I'll need to shape a character and will try to give myself a person they vaguely remind me of to position their basest concept and interactions.
The character of Onyx has some mannerisms I specifically modeled after my little brother with ADHD in his earliest drafts. I had so many working notes and ideas for him and his traits, but I didn't have a way to put them into a shape that could give them some consistency. It made it super easy to figure out how he would express himself with basic emotional reactions and speech patterns once I had an idea of what kind of person (well, pony) I was aiming for. This was a rarity for me, though.
Most of my story and character ideas come from ideas that start with all those "Hey, what if..." snowballing things.
5407530
Since just now, apparently.
5407532
O great Seth Standmore, you should include a chapter calling out the incest devotee nasties in your next story. Consistent themes of tackling evil and telling people the truths they don't want to hear is always a way to improve your writing.
5407536
Ice Star doesn't write fast enough to my liking.
5407538
I will when I can Mothy I promise
>implying I do enough of anything
Huh, I guess this is something I could aim for.
You may always pet them, but they may always bite.
5407547
He is under-caffeinated.
Each story is somewhat different for that! I started writing because my ideas became too bothersome and I wasn't going to harass people to write what I wanted. I figured I would just learn to do this myself. I talked about this in my Barcast interview a lot. :>
I've never thought about doing any writing tips. Maybe I can scrounge around some advice to share.
5407550
I'm one of those people who needs a visual reference to really remember things. I have so little books in my dorm right now, but if I was just to go with what I have with me it's: The Sickness Unto Death, The Last Unicorn, and the cookbook that's helping me stay alive. Once I can access my full library again, I'd be in a way better position to answer. Instead, "things I read (or re-read) recently" will have to suffice. I talked about books some more in my 50 questions blog and my Barcast interview.
They're on my page! But off the top of my head? The Night is Passing, Lingering Shadows, and Wayward Sun.
Because it would require them to acknowledge their crimes.
She is the most likely of the mane six to commit tax fraud.
5. What made you first get into writing, and writing ponies specifically?
I was fourteen and incredibly depressed. I liked reading pony fanfiction and had many ideas but was told I was a horrible writer and should never write by my English teachers. My drawing ability just didn't satisfy me anymore. I had my first laptop and was really into cool pony things. I was at a point where I was way too used to casual depression and figured I could just teach myself to write (seriously, no one wrote what I wanted to read) or try and kill myself again.
There's a lot of talented artists in this fandom, but my favorite art is always the stuff fans draw me or the commissions I get. There's just so much work and love put into them. Especially the fan art.
7. Who is best Student Six, and why is it Yona?
The student six showed up basically around the time I stopped really actively watching the show. But I do love all the stories about them. I'll probably get around to watching later stuff once I've exhausted my ridiculous mountain of high priority projects and storyline. Of all the stories I've read with the young six, Yona is definitely the most underrated. She's really earnest and charming. I wish more people would write about her.
To date, these are my favorite stories featuring her:
- MLP: FiM
- Romance
- Slice of Life
Leaving Carousel Boutique the morning before he and Yona are set to debut their latest fashion line, Sandbar finds himself thinking. That's the sort of thing that usually doesn't turn out well for him.- MLP: FiM
- Romance
- Drama
- Slice of Life
When Yona invites Sandbar to a Yakyakistan festival, Sandbar's past history experiencing transphobia rears its ugly head. Can he win against his own intrusive thoughts and enjoy his Hearth's Warming with the yak he loves?- MLP: FiM
- Comedy
- Slice of Life
Yona discovers hot cocoa for the first time. Yakyakistan will never be the same.Luna/Sombra! It's... very obvious.
Of things that aren't ships but things people still simp for and insisting on dying on the hill of: incest and
foalconpedophilia.By chemistry/personal taste/actual factors of actual romance: Twilight/Luna and Discord/Fluttershy.
By writing. And I don't mean by forcing yourself to go non-stop and your project. That rarely works. Part of the reason I have so many stories is that I need to be able to write giant, epic, pour-your-soul into-it romance quests and simple fluff that I've typed out in a few hours. Working at any kind of story is better than working on none. Even writing badly is still writing, and that can be fixed. You can't exactly show up at an editor with nothing and expect work to get done.
I often use music/picture-prompts to help me out for smaller bouts. For larger bouts, I try and work on other active/in-progress stuff or refresh my mind with some reading (pony or otherwise).
Bros before hoes, my guy.
5407553
None of the above. Cereal is breakfast soup.
5407568
No.
5407581
I was eating kids.
5407626
None. I like snakes and hopefully, they like me.
5407630
I've already written pretty much all the stories needed to cover her interactions with Celestia in my timeline. I also don't have any more ideas for further installments/random ones. It's extremely unlikely.
5407802
It's a reference to my stories. Not the author.
5407910
Jelly beans!
5407980
Reading/writing is basically breathing to me.
And nah, I don't even know what that is. My first guess would be that it's anime but you play it.
So, not an anime.
Probably. If there is any year for anime to become playable, 2020 makes sense.
5408360
Oh...

5408360
Well, at least Sombra has taste. I hope there's no candy corn this time.
5408367
Big mood.
5408360
Ah, honestly I only thought like comedy/not tragedies like the others ones were gonna be made, sucks since momlestia and Sunset are my favorite fics on this site thus far, love your other stories too. You are a great writer comrade.
5408443
The pizza in my avatar has pineapple and green peppers.
5408460
Yeah, I just don’t have plans for any more, regardless of genre.
5408510
Damn, good while it lasted then.
5408817
Thanks pogchamp
