The above fillies have great costumes. Especially the one second from right. When you're the scariest thing you can think of, it saves a fortune on costumes. Wait a minute, I see the Cutie Mark Crusaders... You three freed Cozy Glow from her stone prison so she could go fright-or-biting with you, didn't you? Well, yes, I suppose she does complete the theme perfectly...

As for me, I really did go dressed as Scooby Doo. I wanted to go as The Stig but couldn't put together a convincing costume on short notice.

Speaking of costumes, where does one even find filly-sized Hall & Oates costumes?!? Good thing Toola's an artist, she probably made the costumes from scratch.

The thing that absolutely floored me was finding a vector of Lily Blossom wearing a costume. That's her on the far left. So while this isn't a crossover with 16, I couldn't resist the opportunity to add her to the cover art for this story. It's not every day I find a useful vector of one of my story's stars.

Coconut Cream, Petunia Paleo, and Whipped Cream hopped a train from the Philly outskirts to... a point somewhere west. I've never ridden a train, and this is something that bothers me (hopefully someday!). I've been through two rail museums, though.

More '70s and '80s music. This time around we've got Cheese Sandwich, Hall & Oates, and Styx. She Drives Like Crazy is Weird Al's parody of Fine Young Cannibals' She Drives Me Crazy, and like many of his songs, is quite amusing.

Dennis DeYoung's departure from Styx wasn't exactly mutually agreed on. He was ousted by two of the other members, but my point remains: he's by far the most talented musician of the group. Styx had eight top ten hits on the Billboard Hot 100. Seven of those eight were DeYoung compositions (including their only #1). It's a shame Tommy Shaw came back to Styx, his best work was with Damn Yankees. Ironically, it's the sole Shaw-composed (and sung) hit that I quoted.

I really did buy a Halloween Snoopy for the trunk-or-treat I attended. I was planning on doing a trunk-or-treat not only to get photos for the fic, but also because I had no idea if regular trick-or-treating was going to happen this year due to the pandemic. Then an opportunity came up. I was supposed to be at a car show on the 24th, but the host (owner of the Toyota Sera featured in the story & title image) postponed his show to Halloween at the behest of another group so as they wouldn't be competing against one another. That group just happened to have a trunk-or-treat planned for their car show, which made it perfect. Sometimes life just works out. Best of all, it was a week before the holiday, giving me plenty of time to get the necessary photos. The trunk-or-treat I'd initially planned on attending was on Halloween night, so I'd have likely had to publish this story with no photo and upload it later.

The Toyota Sera isn't a car that attracts a lot of attention rolling down the road. At first glance, it looks similar to the Mazda MX-3, a forgotten hatchback from the early '90s. But once you get out of it, expect a crowd. Seriously, if you want to attract a lot of attention at car shows, buy a Sera. The owner of this particular example got his shipped from Japan for less than $5,000. I've watched it pull crowds away from cars worth far more money. People will walk up to you at random in parking lots asking you to open the doors.

Looks like that wing spell worked for Trixie after all. That or she just drank a Red Bull, take your pick.

The giant bag of candy contained the following: Nerds, Bottle Caps, SweeTarts, Now & Later, Lemonheads, Super Bubble, Laffy Taffy, and I think there was one other candy inside, but I have no idea what it was. There wasn't much left at the end of the night: one box of Nerds, two Laffy Taffys, and increasing amounts of the other five listed, with Now & Later surprisingly being the least popular (I expected it to be Lemonheads). If there was an eighth candy, it was completely wiped out by the kids (as it should be). The owner of the Cobalt actually ran out of candy and at that point I refilled my candy dish and gave him what was left of my bag. We managed to hold out until after eight, at which point we didn't see any more kids going around. The owner of the Mini had a crate of potato chips in front of his car - those disappeared quickly. I never even had the chance to go around and look at the cars or costumes. Once the kids started coming, they didn't stop! So what few pics I got of cars were as everyone was setting up. I can say that among other things, there was a '72 Chevelle (with underglow!), a very rodded first generation Camaro (despite the fact that all three years are distinctive, I didn't even get enough of a glimpse to narrow it down), and a '73 Mustang convertible. The gap between the red Cobalt and the vintage Mini was eventually filled by an Acura Integra, and there was another Integra decked out in cobwebs (named in story by Minty as 'the cobweb car'). So here are the few pics I managed to get:

Time for a virtual car show!

For those wondering when Ploomette's chapter of 16 will be out I have good news and bad news. The bad news is I ran into a little snag. The good news is that 'little snag' is that her chapter will be broken into at least two (possibly three) chapters. I'm over 25,000 words and still nowhere near done with it. Ploomette provides an opportunity to really go behind the scenes and I decided to explore it.

The other little snag was the need to take a break from writing it in order to get this story out in time for Nightmare Night.

I was able to see Styx without Dennis DeYoung and Dennis DeYoung without Styx over the last few years. I do prefer the DeYoung compositions.

I must say I'm jealous! I've never seen either in person. Who puts on the better show live?

Hard to judge. Styx was perhaps better, but they were playing a larger venue, so they could do more with their stage show.

Thanks for writing and the information. :)
